Have the hive actually lied? The egg thing is more something they omitted. We've seen they try dance around things they don't really want to say when they're directly asked. If you know to ask them a certain question, you'll get an honest answer, or at least a working idea to the answer to your question.

Problem is there are known unknowns, which you can get the answer to fairly easily, but there are also unknown unknowns, which can screw you over because you simply didn't care to ask. Something the HDP situation, you wouldn't really care to ask how they get their sustenance, you'd simply assume they're vegetarian going off how they answered what do they eat.
