The point of the longer drawn out scenes with Manouso is pretty clear lol
Its very clear, this isnt about 'not getting it'. I just don't think it was done as well as it could have been.
Im not sure if you think this or not, but if you think not liking that episode is a sign of a lack of intelligence then I would say widen your horizon on the varying pieces of impactful research and art that has been critiqued by other masters of their field
I mean I think you can be critical of anything but it’s also completely fair to believe that media literacy is at an all time low when you look at the current landscape

I loved how the monotony and staleness of their lives is represented in the show's formality, an example is Carol straight up having a suicide attempt after repeating she same monotonous day-to-day life she's carrying, listening to that recording over and over cuz she has no other human voice to hear, emptying her mind and muting her feelings with golfing, howling, fireworks and music until her mental health hits rock bottom.
Is a show where the form is the substance in itself and viceversa.

I think the supposed link between not liking the show and literacy or intelligence is baseless and is an easy assumption to make without much thought. Its what leads to having the opinions in this thread such as "if you don't like the show then its because you have a short attention span or you don't understand art". (This is regardless of whether literacy is worsening for the general public or not)
Anyway I don't want to derail this thread, so Ill leave it there

Well it’s moreso to do with the fact that this is on streaming and as we know 99.999% of what’s on streaming is absolute slop geared for mush brains to consume. I think you can fairly critique anything but it’s also fair to realize a lot of the pushback against this show has come from mush brains mad this isn’t instantly digestible like the sludge they’re used to
Yea gave this show 4 episodes. Been saying imma watch it since after Thanksgiving, but… eh. The desire to continue isn’t that high atm.

It’s pretentious land in here

That’s fair and there is no shame in that
The idea that streaming destroys attention spans when there are plenty of shows that were on cable like mad men or the wire that blew up fan further on streaming is stupid . This reductive view that anyone that doesn’t like pluribus isn’t as smart as you , is impatient or is used to “ slop “ is old guys . Pluribus won’t be for everyone and that’s okay. There is a limited amount of humans in the show it’s a sad lonely show with a lot less talking and human interactions than many shows . We mainly only see one character . I know zoisia is technically all of humanity but we kind of view her as one character too
I like the show but I don’t like when fanbases get uppity

"mad men or the wire that blew up fan further on streaming"
This isn't true. The wire has an extremely niche fanbase and mad men was at it's most succesful while* it aired.

Furthermore, what are imo the best 3 tv shows of all time (twin peaks, the wire and the leftovers) never blew up on streaming.

I am not saying they weren’t all including breaking bad bcs successful on cable I’m saying Anyone who didn’t see when it first aired used a streaming service to catch up or watch for first time .
Breaking bad has a Netflix special exclusive episode and you are acting like what I am saying makes no sense

I love those shows twin peaks season 3 was able to be streamed or watched week to week with showtime
Twin peaks season 1 and 2 were on Netflix
Man be for real
The irony of me typing a paragraph and you choosing one sentence to object to. Rather than discussing the entire point .
Just be pretentious man

Streaming giving these shows a plaftorm isn't the point at all lmao, why you deflecting like this.... most of the biggest shows in streaming are the biggest slop ever, name The summer I turned pretty, stranger things and basically 99% of netflix shows.
Between these and the superhero movies era have brainrotted an entire generation that now think plot is the only important thing in visual storytelling and everything that is not plot-driven or isn't paced like a "get ready with me" tiktok is trash.
A generation that thinks a movie/tv show being "slow" is a flaw in itself.

What you are saying doesn’t just apply to streaming . The most accessible content on cable before even streaming existed is “
Slop” to you . Non challenging games movies music before and after streaming rises to the top because sometimes people get off work and want simplicity . This isn’t all to blame on streaming as I’ve said 4 times now . People have their comfort shows that doesn’t make them stupid or less intelligent than you
Not everyone will want to see an apocalyptic tale with a suicidal character and that is okay . I’m not huge on hero films but that’s often nostalgia snd comfort too .
Pluribus s plot is happening plenty happened this episode and even the quiet parts spoke volumes. The characters in this show walk slow , eat slow and sit in moments slower than even breaking bad or better call Saul at times . Which makes it feel especially slower due to lack of humans in show
Your hatred of Tik tok( I don’t use it ), heroes ( I’m gassed out of it) and Netflix ( they got no good shows) is valid but jumping to “
If they don’t like pluribus their brain is rotted “ is a leap

Bruh I didn't say that everyone who doesn't like it has tiktok brainrot, what we're saying is that denying that tiktok/netflix/mcu doesn't have any effect on general audiences attention span is just insanity.

Then there should be no disagreement with my original post that you quoted which is my opinion. I know Netflix tik tok hero content and reality affect humans they are drained . Doesn’t change pluribus won’t be for everyone and that’s okay
I thought it was a really bad episode too. I don't think the long drawn out scenes added anything this time and it would have had the same pay off/world, story and character building with less than half the runtime.
But the overall story is engaging and unique enough for me to watch it till the end of the series.
Really bad episode is crazy
Nobody even gives a f*** about the historically “great” shows that started from streaming besides Stranger Things which is slop lol
Ain’t no one talking about Orange is the new black or whatever the f*** anymore
manusos such a man

Agreed
I really like the show but the stans come off snobby and insufferable. They think every aspect is pure genius and if you disagree/don’t love every single second of it you’re a tiktoker
“Wow did you notice how Vince had Carol use white paint? A color that signals hope and optimism? Absolutely brilliant!!” No wonder simpletons don’t like this”
