been sitting on the fence with getting one, can't seem to pull trigger just yet
More difficult sell now if you want to play newer games as well
it’s time for the steam deck 2 with that new ryzen AI max or whatever it’s called, the one the flow z13 has. that’s the hardware leap valve says they’ve been looking for, that lil mf can really go
Just got mine
Ordered it on a Wednesday night and arrived at my Midwest house on this Tuesday morning
Still doing the updates but damn you can really see your reflection in that true black oled screen
Can you run cracked games without needing to install a different os
Yeah
It’s easier to install a crack on a different PC and copy it over though
Or you can get preinstalls
Repacks will work but not every time because the processor struggles with them even with the ram limit on

Copy the installer for the crack or just use a real pc to install it to a micro sd e and then plug it into the deck and run it off that?

eh it’s even easier to just install via non steam games and it’s always in the latest folder made in compatdata. that or using lutris. you def don’t need another computer

Use a real PC and copy all the files over
Repacks don’t work on the Deck consistently - not the game the actual repack process

You definitely do for repacks like fitgirl etc
They don’t unpack well or consistently
It’s a pretty well shared opinion that it’s the best way to do it

i’ve done it with a separate computer, but i’ve never had issues with faulty installations with dodi or fitgirl using the latest proton ge on the 1tb oled. just my experience

Thats good it was always really frustrating and slow as s*** before
I actually preferred buying games on the deck lol

also might have something to do with the type of games i install, which are rarely over 10-20 GB. i don’t even waste my time on games that got bloated ass file sizes for the most part

yo that was so much easier than i thought itd be. thanks. im amazed at how much you can do with thing and am enjoying getting to know linux.
I’m still overwhelmed with how much you can do with this thing. Remote playing a torrented copy of Silent Hill 2 remake in my bed from my pc is a level of tech luxury I didn’t know was possible
is this worth buying now or wait for steamdeck 2?
Steamdeck 2 probably a couple years away yet, but there are more powerful handhelds out there now if your not bothered with windows OS

Valve said back in 23ish I believe that SD2 is a far way away because the technology for a significant leap didn’t exist yet.
That being said it depends on what kind of game you are.
If you want to play brand new AAA games without remote play, this is a skip. Most AAA games post Hogwarts Legacy struggle or don’t run well at all. Don’t listen to people that make you think games like BG3 are good experiences.
If you want a handheld PS2/Xbox/Gamexube that’s also capable of emulating ps3 and ps4. And any ps3/ps4 era Steam games run like a dream. This is the greatest handheld oat

For every big purchase you make there’ll always be a better version down the line. You could spend your whole life waiting. If you want one just buy one cause like the other guy said this is THE goat handheld.
finally took the time to set up retrodeck today
got some gba, wii, wii u, ps2 and ds. held off on gamecube cause i'm hoping to get a switch 2 and gamecube gonna be on there
been considering just selling my steam deck i really don’t ever play it i cant even tell you the last time i sat and played it more than 30 minutes unless its been on the way to somewhere for vacation
i really do love the thing too but i honestly would just rather play it all on my pc if i’m at home
the main thing that keeps me from selling though is emulation it’s really the best on this
Anyone know how often these go in stock refurbished from valve? Been selling off old CS:GO skins because I might scoop one
Been checking a few weeks and have barely seen any restocks
