Took me 2 mins was actually surprised how easy it was
Yeah I realized afterwards that I did it in a much more roundabout way lol

How is the screen compared to the Deck, is it crisper and more colorful?
Might pull the trigger soon
Enjoy btw

i keep thinking it really isnt more powerful than a steamdeck at 15w but then i realize im playing at 1080p with vrr
also lighter than the steamdeck which really makes it feel quite good for handheld play.

I tried one today & I can’t lie I’m very tempted.

i still love the steam deck, but have preferred the actual gaming on the ally by far. i cannot talk up this screen enough especially for a handheld.
playing the persona games at 120 fps with a screen that can show it off is damn impressive. unfortunately 120 fps is a battery drain, which is where the vrr comes into play with a 40fps limit on a 120hz screen. making the gameplay feel amazing, but limits the fps for battery conservation. all within 15w, and sometimes 10w or less if the game is older / less hardware intensive
that said there are def a lot of kinks that will need to be patched in both drivers and asus software. if you buy an ally you have to be willing to tinker, like a computer geek loves to do, to get it set up just right. with a steamdeck if you play the games from steam that are verified for deck you will have a great time 100% of the time with little to no configuring.

How have you found battery life? My biggest concern is that it will be so short it removes the “handheld” nature as it need to be plugged in

depends how you want to use it while handheld. if you keep your graphical settings for a game to be running in the 15w or less range you will be satisfied with lengthy handheld play.
if you want the best graphics and highest fps you will use more wattage and drain the battery faster.
if you like playing old or emulated games you can stretch the battery life really far even with high fps. currently playing doom 3 bfg edition at 120 fps and it uses around 13 watts.

F*** I think I might have to try it.
I use windows on the deck and for game pass some of the performance is absolutely awful

The screen alone makes it worthwhile

Only if we could get Steam OS on this thing and run games as good as SD at lower TDP's this would've been the greatest thing ever

Yeah lower TDP performance is a bit crazy
I’m hoping with some updates (even community work) they can get it fixed
Still a great device especially for windows, feels simple
