what why? I got a 512gb micro sd card for like $50 on sale last year
Paying $250 more for the same thing is ridiculous, especially when the only bonuses are a different type of case and some digital steam community goodies
If you don’t care about NVME ssd speeds that’s fine
The games will run the exact same just loading times will be slower
"It looks like you've been attempting a lot of purchases in the last few hours" Yes Valve, I f***ing have smh.
i think they shut down the api url for the queue stats
yep it’s gone

Got that too.
Finally got through after 20 minutes of that bullshit

Aren’t sd cards faster than ssds?
Aren’t sd cards faster than ssds?
No
Extreme Samsung cards do about 150mbps I think
So faster than a hard drive slower than an ssd
Got that too.

I literally signed into my Paypal and checked out at one point but it errored out

Ay buddy, your not playing Cyberpunk on an SD card, can barely play it on a hard drive

Check your purchase history and emails. Could have gone through

not these nVME connections. remember SSD is type of storage, but the speed of data transfer to internal memory is dependent on the connection. Sata, usb 3.1, nvme pcie x3, etc
No

nah the new micro sds from 2019 do like 900mbps

Some games are being designed around SSDs and Nvmes tho, especially open world. I don’t think SD Card are fast enough to hold super complex games.

In the future yes 100% I agree, and the new consoles will make this the norm.
But as of right now no game on pc requires an SSD, but it has been recommended for some games

Well, maybe I’m thinking about those cheap Sandusky SD cards from Walmart lol. If there’s some fast enough to hold AAA games,I’d like to know too.
Wanna link me?
howtogeek.com/436788/what-is-microsd-express-and-why-it-matters
“ They are new types of SD cards that support a maximum read speed of 985 megabytes per second (MB/s). Current microSD cards, by comparison, don’t even hit 200 MB/s. The Express versions of SD use the PCIe 3.1 interface and NVMe to achieve this. These are the same technologies used by speedy, M.2 “gumstick” solid state drives in PCs. The new Express cards only use one lane of PCIe, however, while M.2 NVMe drives typically use four.”
I guess they’re micro sd cards that use nvme somehow

Wonder if the steam deck sd card slot will support those speeds

I think anything that takes micro sd works with this but I’ll look into it
edit: it might require an update because it seems android was updated to support it

Yea,I think open world games will very soon need an SSD
Surprised it's not completely sold out yet
Still locked out smh

It won’t sell out. Unlimited reservations: they will just ship them in order of the queue
This is gonna flop like all the other valve hardware
"Another flop"
The reserves extend into Q2 2022 and they haven't even opened up orders to everybody yet.
First page looking real embarrassing right now
can you upgrade the ssd yourself?
With this form factor best to assume no. Probably soldered on
