Coogler is really good at building out supporting characters and the worlds they live in. Especially families. I feel like his 'Crooklyn' or 'YI YI' would be otherworldly. After listening to a few of his interviews about his life, I bet he has a lot personal stories to make for a epic family drama
Top 2 mbj roles btw
Yeah this s***s all over his black panther performance that everyone hyped up
saw this movie this morning but I wanted to take some time to write out my review (Happy Easter fam).
Coogler described this film as a rock and roll concert, but I felt that this was a rock and roll OPERA filled with tons of gore, action, and incredible acting across the board, with Michael B Jordan’s best performance to date. This was one of the best original movies I’ve seen in theaters, probably since Nope. Studio Execs, please continue to support and bolster black art.
10/10
It’s wild how completely different this movie ended up being from when I first watched the trailer lmao. Like you had me at post slavery vampire flick but this ended up being way deeper than that

I wasn’t mad at that performance but this is so clearly head and shoulders above it.
Goddamn that first scene with his girl man
fire. don’t know/remember s*** about us history so just assumed the asians were a diversity hire ngl
When Sammie pulls up in that opening shot and you don’t realize he’s beat and bloody and the guitar is broken until he gets out and steps from behind the car door is when I realized Coogler is really a master at this
You know, coming out of the theater, I thought this was a solid movie. But, after 24 hours, discussing the film, its themes, hearing others perspectives on certain things, and just sitting with the movie. The higher my score for it goes. I honestly felt like this was a solid B+ film (solid A theater experience), but I’m at an A and climbing for this movie now. I love movies that make me think and reflect man.
y’all notice the vultures constantly flying over the juke joint
