I really don’t care about awards like Emmy’s, Golden Globes, Oscars etc anymore. I don’t see them as a measurement of a good movie, tv show, or actor at all anymore. Pretty all award shows. Once I got old enough and actually became aware of all the politicking that goes into just trying to get nominated, let alone win, all that s*** went up in smoke. I’d be fine if they went away or just became a celebration type thing, with no awards given.

I'm sure there are but the praise Lady Bird & Little Women got was borderline disgusting. Who do you think falls before her?

Alfonso Cuaron, Sam Mendes, Alex Garland, Russo bros., Jordan Peele, Alejandro G. Inarritu, Wes Anderson, Damien Chazelle, Ava DuVernay, Taika Waititi, Denis Villeneuve, among others. (Ari Aster is well on his way to being there too.)

Some of those names I agree with but it seems like you’re just naming off anyone who gets any sort of acclaim. A lot of those directors are well established.

Alfonso, Alejandro, Denis, Wes & Damien for one have at least put out 1 or 2 fantastic films. My issue with the Greta praise is her filmography, to me at least, is not worthy of it at all and the driving force seems to be that she’s a female. She kind of blew up around the time where Hollywood was obsessed with that topic so I can’t blame her but until I see something on the level of Y Tu Mama Tambien or Grand Budapest then I think my original statement is fair.

Even if it’s just one, the other film is massively over hyped.

He’s a breath of fresh air in the network of directors nowadays but he’s still just walking. He ain’t goat status yet.

Nothing. I just said they're overrated.

"Overrated" doesn't necessarily mean they're bad filmmakers, or even that I dislike their films.

A lot of Cronenberg's work is like this imo. Great visual but the ideas usually come across somewhat half baked

A History of Violence and Eastern Promises don't seem to go anywhere in terms of story although they have great atmosphere. Naked Lunch was so hyped up and when I watched it I was underwhelmed

This guy isn't allowed to watch movies anymore lol

    yes to some
    no to others

Inarritu in general eats the rest. shame he went for stereotypical formalistic pretentious wannabe arthouse banality. there are def more adjectives that come to mind.
