haven’t watched judas but most peoples critiques were that the film didn’t include hamptons marxist and anti-capitalist views
Then I'd say those people didn't watch the movie
Literally his first speech in the movie he says "...You don't fight Capitalism with Black Capitalism"
Spielberg known as the king of kids movies in the 80s but he cant f*** with Labrynth, Willow, Princess Bride, Baron von Munchausen or Who Framed Roger Rabbit
I like the Motion Smoothing/Action Clarity Setting aka The Soap Opera effect on my TV when I watch movies or tv shows
I'm tired of boring ass plain and ugly ass white main characters having beautiful melanated love interests.
culture has changed so much since then. Whole movie basically about trying to date rape high school girls.
Idk if I didn’t realise this in 2007 or it just didn’t matter
There’s only one instance of date rape in this movie and it’s coming from a female

yea the weird part about this is that the white dudes be noticeably older than their gfs lmaoo

Way older.
Me and my girl was watching that 365 flick a while back and the main chick was basic as s*** especially compared to his Indian employees
corret me if im wrong,
but the concept of films started as propaganda.
And Hollyweird always been a premium brainwashing tool of the United States.
What do you mean "the concept of films started as propaganda"?
I just don't see the point of Judas and the Black Messiah
The movie feels like it tries to get the audience to sympathize with William O Neal by showing how Jesse Plemons' character manipulated him by inviting him over to his house, taking him out to nice restaurants etc. Like he was a victim too. But then its like they want to show us Jesse Plemons' character is not such a bad guy after all because he shows resistance towards killing Fred and gets manipulated by Hoover
Daniel Kaluuya felt stiff and unnatural, like I could tell he was acting. Not sure how Fred Hampton spoke, but Ima check out some speeches. Daniel made him seem kinda condescending in how he spoke. The romance with Dominique also felt so forced, no chemistry at all. Lakeith deserves more praise for his acting in this than Daniel imo
As someone who is unfamiliar with the civil rights era other than Malcolm X, the movie didn't inform me of much about the Black Panthers and it seems like most of the movie didn't actually occur and was just added for dramatic effect. I just don't get why it was made, what were they hoping the audience would gain from watching it
Watched some Fred Hampton videos and I was wrong - Daniel Kaluuya nailed his speech and mannerisms. Also peeped some Shaka King interviews and he said the point of the movie was to get people interested, to make the audience aware of what happened so that after the movie they'd want to do their own research on Fred Hampton. It was pitched as The Departed meets COINTELPRO, which I don't think it lives up to but I can definitely see the inspiration.
Still don't think its as good as people make it out to be, I feel like some movies get exaggerated praise just because they're focused on the struggles of black people in America. One Night in Miami was just some trash imo, just a movie about people having debates for like 2 hours
They're arguing in the hotel room, then they go up to the roof and joke around for a bit before they argue, then they head back to the hotel room where they argue some more
The actors were brilliant at depicting these icons but Malcolm X didn't have to be written as such a prick, Muhammad Ali didn't have to be a h**** manchild with ADHD
They could've done so much more with those actors. But they just banked on the audience catching references to real life events and made a mid movie around it. Just picture this movie if those 4 people weren't in it and it was 4 fictional characters instead - I don't think it would be getting nearly as much praise
So I caught Bright from the point Will Smith smokes the 4 cops. Doesn't seem as bad of a movie as niggas made it out to be. Not great but I don't hate it.

I don't think people hated it like that. It just didn't fully utilize its potential given the concept.

Remakes been around for a very long time, and a good chunk of them are pretty good. The hate is unwarranted

yea, sometimes the "I hate remakes" crowd don't even know their fave movies are remakes.
The Departed by Scorsese is technically a remake of this Hong Kong movie Internal Affairs

Fargo, Gomorra, Mindhunter, Mr. Robot, The Deuce, Watchmen, True Detective... and the list goes on. I'd have agreed if he said the 10s were much weaker compared to the 00s in terms of quality (obviously), but saying that s*** was forgettable is a straight up lie.

Twin Peaks: The Return, too.
