    YES

i want a picture of that hug between de niro and pacino. so wholesome

Probably also an unpopular opinion but Irishman the best movie 2019. The melancholy at the end make me still think about this GOAT movie :

one of the best films of the decade for me. top 5 Scorsese even.

There's something about it around like the hour and half mark where it just completely sucked me in and didn't let go (around the time Jimmy goes to jail i think). i teared up a bit at the end, especially that phone call Frank makes to Jimmy's wife

It also made me realize just how much i f***ing love Pacino

    Irishman > Goodfellas

Irishmans ending always makes me Fits the overall narrative better

feel like Irishman is more comparable to Godfather 3 than Goodfellas and would make a better double feature.

multiverses are just a lazy excuse for nostalgia baiting and to be able to throw everything at the wall at once without it effecting the franchise. I'm already fatigued by it and the two big films exploring the gimmick post-Spider Verse haven't even dropped yet.

I hate that we live in an era of TV and Film where anything that can happen to please fan boys will happen. Even The Mandalorian feels like a show that knows what Star Wars fans want to see instead of being something actually unique in the series.

    Damn f*** making people happy

I read the book version of the Star wars prequel trilogy when I was younger with no knowledge of anything star wars at that time. Still my favorite novel though I hardly read novels. The twists and action was just much crazier in my head. Makes me think the script for the film was actually good but the execution was poor

Sadly this true for more or less all Star Wars media. The no Eliza room of the movies in particular is always way more extravagant than the actual movies.

“The Irishman” is not only the best film of 2019, it’s also one of the best films Scorsese has ever done (and the guy has an amazing filmography).

Nolan’s films don’t work for me because he focuses too much on his concepts. When he tries to construct good emotional moments, he fails because he relies too much on lazy writing. He thinks showing his characters crying and acting hysterical is enough to build a good emotional moment. Most of the time, it doesn’t work, it’s cheap sentimentalism (I have nothing against sentimentalism when it’s managed by sensitive artists, Nolan lacks sensitivity).

“Mank” is Fincher’s worst film (if you don’t count “Alien 3”). It’s too didactic. Feels like an Oscar bait which emulates another era, exactly like “The Artist” (if you don’t remember this film I can’t blame you, it’s forgettable as fck).

A lot of people would agree that “The Sopranos” is the greatest show of all time. Most of them don’t get the show. Most of them don’t realize how detailed, meticulous and brillant the writing is.

“Euphoria” is overrated. It relies too much on style. It tries to be a drama but you can’t build interesting drama if you spend your time masturbating with complex camera shots and set ups. Drama takes time, time builds tension. However, that special episode about Rue? That s*** was absolutely brillant. It was everything the show needed to be: it’s not trying to impress you, it’s pure, honest and therefore REALLY beautiful.

Sorry To Bother You kinda sucked

the only thing I took away from it was that Boots Riley has an exhibitionism fetish

Totally agree on the irishman it felt like a spirtual ending to Scorsese's previous gangster films.

The Irishman is a retread of older scorcese stuff. Same old s*** with old dudes doing mafia s***... He's done this stuff so many times before.

Sarah Paulson is annoying on and off the screen, not to mention she always plays that typical boring Wasp role in every film.. Its so fitting her lesbian relationship is with an 80 year old

She had her moments. She's great in Blue Jay

haven’t seen Thuderdome but yeah I prefer the first two. Mainly because the focus is on Max and there’s more depth to him.

Mank being Fincher's worst is not exactly a hot take. Only critics will disagree with you, but s*** was weak sauce
I agree with almost all of what you're saying I don't mind Nolans concept focused approach, but he does struggle with emotional scenes
