This sounds like my wife's family dinners

“From Thursday, doctors performing gender transition surgery or prescribing puberty blockers to treat gender dysphoria to those under 18 could see their medical license getting revoked.”
i suppose this could lead to the imprisonment of trans people and persecution of LGBTQ people from other citizen.
i do think equating this to literally imprisoning someone for 10 years because they said they were gay are not necessarily the same scope though, albeit i see the points being made
can someone link me to the details of the bill in Florida? can't lie this ugandan one seems extreme asf, if they're planning on doing this in FL i would be shocked
they're threatening jail time for those who treat trans kids for affirmative care
It’s unrealistic to try and separate those two things
No, it's not. I'm South African, saying we're underdeveloped economically, in terms of infrastructure - sure. But I'll disagree if we're talking about legal policies focused on discrimination and acceptance of the LGBT+ community
Disrespectful to say "Wow, look how outdated they are over there, it's like looking through a time machine
" when the right is trying to do the same s***.
yeah they are. welcome to the point
I don't have a problem with him using that word. But that time machine s***, on this issue is what I have a problem with
Why tho lol
Saying Africans countries have been held back by imperialism isn't some hot take
It’s unrealistic to try and separate those two things
I mean I agree but when the only reasoning posted for calling them undeveloped were those arguments, kinda narrow-sighted.
Plenty of developed countries have just, if not worse, track records for racism and human rights.
Why tho lol

Because it implies America is far ahead when yall really not..
There's also African countries where it's not and discrimination based on sexuality and gender is against the Constitution. What's your point?
You said as an “African” you didn’t like that post cus it implies that America was way ahead of y’all which we factually are. Is the USA a paradise for the lgbtq? Hell naw. But let’s be realistic.
then what are you tryna say? lol
conservativism is a time machine to the past.
some nations are much more conservative than most of us are used to which makes it more bizarre to see.
not that deep.
Because it implies America is far ahead when yall really not..
in the grand scheme of things, LGBTQ+ people here have way more rights than a lot of other countries
we literally allow young children to take puberty blockers and transition. like how the f*** is that not far ahead of a country that's banning identifying as lgbt

For how long still
Imagine a South African looking at black Americans being killed by police and going "Wow, it's like looking through a time machine
" when racism is still very prevalent here

Because the US has 50 separate entities calling themselves "we", all 50 are not equal
Its definitely ahead as whole, but some states aren't much different in their reasoning.
Americans quick to say f*** their country when there's another mass shooting but look how they vehemently defend it
American pride is something else fr

we losing all these rights state by state, gang

I mean some regards they are. Isnt that negative impact of imperialism
we losing all these rights state by state, gang
yes thank you from the "well actually" twitter crowd - i was not aware that transgender rights are being admonished or taken away in other states. but on the whole, it is allowed (unless there is some new data i am not aware of)
