Why is it disrespectful when Ian does it but not Drake or Doja?

Drake and Doja are black. I can’t believe that had to be pointed out or you think there should be a more sufficient reason. There isn’t it’s that simple

And why do you keep deflecting to two black people when we’re talking about the white man? This topic is about Ian not Drake and Doja

brain rot post. Tyler was absolutely justified in saying what he said, and the response from that kid and his team proved it. Ya'll are way too comfortable thinking your favs are entitled to spaces in rap/hiphop bc you yourselves enjoy them within your vacuum of experiences. Get tf out of here, and take Ian with you

You guys just can’t accept white rappers that exist in similar lanes as black people being popular

You guys expect every white rapper to carve out some super specific lane for themselves which is STUPID

Do u know what actually devalues the culture? Giving black people passes to do whatever they want in hiphop just cuz they are black

Ian is just a kid having fun making good music. He takes inspiration from black artists and is no stranger to working with and around black artists

Being black doesn’t give you carte Blanche to act however you want. Black people aren’t a monolith and besides, both Doja and Drake are white raised and said their dads weren’t around.

If a black person grew up in Nova Scotia that doesn’t mean they can rap like theyre from Atlanta and it not be corny/fake.

Are u stupid??? Ian exists in the same spaces as those artists which is why I compared them

The overlap between fans is very high

Nobody who listens to Ian / destroy lonely is listening to street rappers or conscious hiphop

They face criticism only after you peel back the layers which took people years to finally do.

Doja f***s with Sam Hyde and then goes and makes a neo soul type song. That s*** is crazy to me

What makes him a parody anymore than Doja Cat or Drake?

What makes Doja and Drake a parody? They take the craft very seriously.

They were rapping before they started singing. Doja has interviews going back to 2013 where she raved about rap. Drake's been trying to break into rap since at least 2004.

I didn't ask about him, I asked about them because you used them as an example bro.

This ain't me tryna come at you I don't do that kinda s*** on here, I just don't agree with the examples you used

I'll be honest and say I don't know anything about Ian at all. Never heard one song from him.

I brought them up because people criticized Ian for being white and from the suburban and rapping with a blaccent like he’s from ATL

I thought the s*** was corny regardless of who did it but it seems that people are fine with picking and choosing

Tyler was lowkey more disrespectful to rap than Ian ever was.

Tyler was lowkey on some meme irony s*** when he would listen to rappers like Gucci and Waka. Like “I’m too good for this s***, I listen to real music, but I’ll play this when it’s time to be silly” type of timing

at the same time, he was pushing the boundaries for how rap could sound in 2010/11. hating on tyler (who was like 18 at that time) for not having mature and thoughtful music opinions is a wack ass argument.

Because no one who just views this s*** as a quick lick is gonna take the time to learn how to produce and network with other underground rappers to make music. He very clearly is a genuine fan and appreciator of the genre

Look at all the other meme rappers we’ve had. That doesn’t really match their behavior.

I see what you're trying to say but you're making a very giant leap
