i kinda get what you’re tryna say here but fam what do you expect lol? tyler wasn’t gonna win any awards rapping about raping pregnant chicks
I know, but think from my perspective for a second.
Let's say you're hot and you got the best album out right now, would you submit your music to award shows?
I personally wouldn't, because I don't see the need if fans and people are going to continually f*** with what I got. I don't need yearly awards to show that I'm the best artist out right now. F*** that
I feel like artists should start to care less about this s*** and just continue to make a great ass music and not just make s*** to bait music awards.

But nevertheless, artists are their own people, if they still care about these awards, then go head, but for me, I feel we're above yearly awards nowadays. We should just focus on making an impact in the industry.
Gotta say I’m enjoying the artist they having perform & show up this year
Terra Whack
Smino
Baby Keem
Tobi nguwe
Rapsody
IDK
D Smoke
it’s a bit refreshing to see
wow.
And this is what I'm talking about. Like they have an actual good line up of performers and not just "the superstars" and they didn't even bother to advertise this s***.
Like I actually wanna see this s***.
One of the blackest cities in America, the hub for most black entertainment, what’s funny? Where you from?

tyler is not hot in atlanta stop it
Again, all your s*** is anecdotal while I'm literally talking about things tyler actually discussed. It's obvious rap culture doesn't mess with tyler the way he wants and that's partially why he made a more rap oriented album instead of what he did with his last 2 projects. For the past 4 years your average tyler fan is without a doubt some artsy white person
he won this award with recovery not relapse
Augh, yesterday my dog died
I hog tied a ho, tied her in a bow
Said: "Next time you blog, try to spit a flow."
Recovery was his most "PC" album yea but it still had Eminem's typical 'isms' on it that other rappers of a different skin tone wouldn't get away with saying lol.
HOLY S*** DID TOBI KILL HIS PERFORMANCE
Btw idk if this the general bet awards thread or not
@Sk8brdKee most of our hip hop artists are phony when it comes to this though.
Niggas will act like they're above the Grammies and all that but soon as they get nominated they turn Sambo. Or they only say 'fuck the grammies' after they never won it.
That's why I gotta respect Drake and Kanye both, they win and still be like 'lol this s*** is worthless' (which I think played a big part in the decrease in relevancy in their event)

sounds like half the people in the g&g section
And black rappers have rapped about raping women since the beginning of hip-hop and got away with it

I mean there's a reason I've never accepted an invite lol.
Hell, it's even the same with Grammys and all these award shows, they never gave a s*** about Tyler, but now he's Poppin, they want to make it seem like they care about his music
They wasn't about to recognize a dude rapping about raping pregnant women and burning down schools over Neptunes-lite beats at the Grammys or BET Awards b ion know what to tell you. It's almost like once he started taking his music and public perception more seriously, other platforms would start taking him seriously as well...
Them acknowledging his growth artistically since Flower Boy isn't pandering. It's them acknowledging that he...has very clearly grown artistically and is rightfully getting awarded for it.
Tyler has frequently explained why he cares so much about BET awarding him and inviting him to perform at their shows. He grew up with the s***, and even though they weren't f***ing with him (for very obvious reasons) early in his career it's still a big deal to get that recognition.
BET as a media property has been ass over the last ten years or so. However something they have always managed to get right is giving dope ass tributes and celebrating Black icons.at their award shows. They never care about the artistry? Not when they've given special awards to people like Quincy Jones, Queen Latifah, Prince, TLC, Usher, Michael Jackson, Bobby Brown, and a slew of other artists?

FAXXXXXXX
That's why I just look at Tyler like "BRO, YOU'RE LITERALLY WINNING WITHOUT THESE AWARDS, YOU DON'T NEED THEM"
wow.

If you don’t see nothing else atleast checkout tobis performance
s*** is wild

Lmao you know? You from Atlanta? You do understand Atlanta is home to so many alt-black people (Tyler audience), gay people (Tyler audience) and niggas who just like Tyler? You the one who said “what black city is Tyler hot in”, and I answered
The nigga just wants to make more rap music. I dont think you can assume that he wants more rap fans unless he says “I want more rap fans”. He’s been rapping his whole career and hasn’t always been experimental.
You are making assumptions. Give me some sources or your s*** is anecdotal as well. Also we not talking about the average fan of Tyler the Creator so don’t change your argument. Your claim was that his music isnt popular in black spaces. Prove that then.
Like my nigga you really could've (and probably should've) just said "Congrats to Tyler" and left it at that.
sounds like half the people in the g&g section

Oh word. I aint know Pregnant P**** hit the charts lol.
I aint know Gravediggaz was on Kids Bop CDs.
I aint know Bizarre was performing at the Grammies.
I ain't know horrorcore rappers as an entire genre were getting awards and s*** :word:
Like my nigga you really could've (and probably should've) just said "Congrats to Tyler" and left it at that.
idk why its such a “The industry never f***ed with Tyler so this is fake” argument. When its the music industry and Tyler made himself not acceptable in homes until Flower Boy.
he was kinda on point til the car thing thats such a dumb non-comparison lol

Yeah and tyler isn't a hot act in atlanta. An example of a hot act is baby youngboy durk gunna and the other artists where we know where their core audience comes from.
I'm not from atlanta but I know what anecdotal evidence is lmao. Just cause he's hot in your circle don't make him a hot act in black america the way you suggest.
My s*** isn't anecdotal because I'm not using my own personal experience. I'm literally talking about what tyler has said
