Pretty sure part of it is "reclaiming" America and propping up the black side to American history and entertainment - it's kinda the whole concept of Cowboy Carter of celebrating blackness in spaces blackness isn't visible as much anymore in modern times

Nothing wrong with that, to me, and she (n "we") is still an American at the end of the day no matter what

Black people feeling the need to "reclaim" something is just a form of bowing to white supremacy. There's still a lot of work to be done in propping up black culture , there's nothing to reclaim that isn't already in the past.

  • The most honorable el-Hajj Malik el-Shabazz cries red, black, and green tears of indignation in جَنَّةٍ every time an unconscious New Afrikan’s coon chip activates via ADOS-FBA bourgeois ameriko-nationalism

    Highly disagree.

Lot of America was built off the back of black people and a lot of originally black things have pushed black people out, such as Country.

There is nothing wrong with shining light on that, or trying to push back into those spaces.

Music wise, like how black people are doing with Country and forms of Electronic music such as House - but even beyond that.

These are things that are disconnected and unknown to the newer gens of black people too, even if my gen and my older brothers gen. There is nothing wrong with showing to them there is more you were and could still be apart of. No matter who tries to keep you out or bury it.

There's an unfortunate amount of people even in our spaces that think black people were nothing but slaves, ball players, rappers and RnB singers. Nothing wrong with expanding that, or reclaiming what we once in but aren't anymore.

There's really nothing for us to reclaim tbh. Black people already added our own flavor to these genres, and black people have already recognized these legends for their achievements. Black acts saying "they want to reclaim" something just means "I want to crossover and have white acceptance" at this point.

Disagree. And a lot of people do not have the know like you or I. We are a minority among younger people.

And thinking this is just about white people is ignorance, to me. This isnt a message for white people, it's a message for black people.

There is nothing wrong with reclaiming. As long as you aren't losing your dignity for it.

You can't even create something new without having a foundation of the old. Which is also why reclaiming, educating and making "cool" these things are important.
