Why can’t i get into David Lynch when i love surrealism in cinema
Not that i’ve tried that hard tho i’ve seen Eraserhead once (respect it but can’t say i would want to watch it again) and Mulholland Dr. partly. Put that off after 20 mins cus i wasn’t feeling it at that moment

Next time try Mulholland Dr. for the full runtime or Blue Velvet

Twin Peaks is the easiest way to get into Lynch due to it being 50% lynch and 50% Frost. It's also a series so you can take your time watching and digesting it.
Blue Velvet and Mulholland Dr. are the usual gateway movies.
You could have trouble getting into Lynch because it just might not be for you. Which is fine. Surrealism comes in a wide range of forms and even fans of surrealism aren't a fan of all of it.

I know but i just haven’t really given him a fair chance yet ig, will peep Mulholland Dr in full this time soon
Seems free?
the kind of TM Lynch talks about is always about having a teacher who guides you and helps you find a personal mantra... (though honestly I don't even know if he's doing that himself nowadays? lol) Good for celebrities who wanna do it, but it doesn't seem very working-class friendly (except for the schools and other people who get it for free through the Lynch Foundation)
Personally think the accusations of the whole thing being cult-ish are a bit overblown (particularly since the Lynch Foundation for one is non-profit), but I will agree that it seems scammy to charge so much for a relatively simple thing. And that incident when Lynch tried to bring TM to Germany and the head of the proposed school was some lowkey Neonazi weirdo was... unfortunate. Seemed like that was extremely naive on Lynch's part, at best.

But if you want to get into it by yourself there's tutorials on youtube etc and honestly rly getting into the groove is probably hard, but seems like a good idea

Mulholland Drive is his most accessible complete mindfuck, and you really need to watch it to the end to properly judge it tbh. If you love surreal cinema you shouldn't miss out on it. In fact I think it's not even very controversial to call Lynch the master of surreal cinema, to me he's able to conjure surreal situations and stories with a consistency which I've only seen from Kafka otherwise, plus he's just using cinema as a medium perfectly to translate it to a viewer. Most surreal filmmakers after have been at least partly inspired by him.
I'd say try giving it a full watch. Lynch never explains anything about his films, but he made a tiny exception for MD and at least gave some clues to understand it, maybe they help give you a slightly different perspective for a rewatch:
David Lynch's 10 Clues
1. Pay particular attention in the beginning of the film: at least two clues are revealed before the credits.
2. Notice appearances of the red lampshade.
3. Can you hear the title of the film that Adam Kesher is auditioning actresses for? Is it mentioned again?
4. An accident is a terrible event... notice the location of the accident.
5. Who gives a key, and why?
6. Notice the robe, the ashtray, the coffee cup.
7. What is felt, realized and gathered at the club Silencio?
8. Did talent alone help Camilla?
9. Note the occurrences surrounding the man behind Winkies.
10. Where is Aunt Ruth?
Also: despite what some people or critics say and as random as the film might seem at first you can interpret most details fairly accurately, there's a fairly solid explanation to everything. But there's a lot you won't even get on a first watch, that's what makes it so rewatchable too (that and just the amazing atmosphere of it).
Otherwise maybe just try Twin Peaks which is definitely one of his overall most accessible (and rewarding) works, though there the surreality only seeps in slowly and it's mostly grounded in character drama. Or Blue Velvet before that which has a similar vibe and is just a great noir film, though it's more weird than explicitly surreal.
