Trails beyond the Horizon. 2nd part of Reans route
Reans route saved me. I played Arknights (OG not Endfield) so when the game focused so much on going to space and there being a big mystery around it my first thought was that the sky would be fake or artificial so its really cool to see that this route kinda confirmed it. Very curious to see exactly what the f\*\*\* is going on here. Rean finally got to go up against Shizuna too, I been waiting for this s\*\*\* man lmao
Falcom cooked with that cutscene
My goat Rean

Van Route 3 finished
Not much going on here but I am VERY glad Agnes was rejected man

Granblue Relink DLC was really good. Heard the new Monster Hunter Stories was quite good as well, but haven't played it. But yes, auto GOTY win for Sky SC next week + we'll see how Fire Emblem is.
Next year is the year we really eat
edit: oh duh, Trails Beyond the Horizon came out in the west earlier this year. That'd be my personal pick for sure, but I played it back in 2024 lol.
Gotta get off my ass and finally start Trails to Azure. By the time I finish the series Trails in the Sky's remake's remake will be a thing.

Damn you finished Zero? What you think of it? S*** was probably my fav with Sky 3rd

My guess is that the 3rd remake will be out in 2028. Follow up to Horizon will probably be their 2027 title, so you’ve got some time lol.
Relink was great. Loved the game loop and gameplay. Definitely recommend revisiting it if you’re bored someday.

We on the same wavelength man cause I thought Zero and Sky 3rd were better than Sky 1-2. I think the fact that Zero has its core four throughout the entire game and "guest" characters that hang out for some sequences makes it feel a lot more intimate and close-knit than Sky. I found that Sky had a lot of character bloat. Honestly, it had a lot of location bloat too imo. I liked having Crossbell be the main location compared to trekking through like 5 different cities in Sky. Sky 3rd kinda overcomes the whole character bloat thing since all of them are already established from 1 and 2.

I have so many issues with Trails beyond the Horizon, words can't describe how much I despise Van's route in this game... with that being said, the whole cutscene from the end of the Kasim/Rene fight was pure kino. Emilia is my f\*\*\*ing goat, when I said make her playable I aint mean like this. She really went out to space by herself to solo a god
MAJOR spoilers
EDIT: Wait, Rene what the f\*\*\*?

Yeah, actually such an insane ending. That last act is why I'm willing to forgive the pacing issues. Cliffhanger worse than CS3 and they end up remaking the Sky games for the next 3 years.
The Rene Grendel reveal and fight was so f\*\*\*ing raw man

Did you finish the Grim Garten side stuff with Novartis? If not, recommend watching the cutscenes for that.

Yeah honestly I have an insane amount of issues with the pacing in this game, I really feel like you could cut the length of this game in like... half lmao.
Lowkey, I feel like Falcom taking a break from Horizon to work on Sky might be a good thing? A lot of things here kinda felt like burnout and lazy with them just relying on the "Do 4SPGs until something happens then we can move the plot ever so slightly".
I read an interview a while back about how Kondo said the team was really excited to work on Sky 1st and then Sky 2nd and I hope they can bring some of that enthusiasm to Horizon 2 because I didn't really feel it here.
I feel like that Rene s\*\*\* came outta nowhere but also, I didn't care cause it was hype asf lmao. The music reminded me of something from Nier and the transition to real time combat in space was beautiful man. Their cinematography has gotten so f\*\*\*ing good. Everything from the last few hours was kino
Yeah, I did it before the final boss, I wasn't expecting for the Grand Master to reveal herself there but honestly, during that cutscene I wasn't paying that much attention cause my brain was going on override trying to figure out Novartis' existence. Like, on the previous cycle he was the sole disciple of Epstein. On top of that, we know that the cycle that Risette is from somehow made it to 1259 so some crazy s\*\*\* must have been going on in that cycle. I'm guessing Novartis also somehow jumped to the next cycle and lost his memory? I'm quite a fan of the cycles plot point, s\*\*\* reminds me of 13 Sentinels which is funny cause thats my fav story in a video game
Last thing but the cycles also confirm that the bad endings on Cold Steel are cannon which is pretty cool
EDIT: I just read a theory and it would actually make sense if Rene is so strong because he has lived through an insane amount of cycles and he actually remembers doing so; it would be similar to the anime Madoka but that s\*\*\* would be cool asf. Actually, I'm pretty convinced now he is from a different cycle

Yeah, I also kinda get the impression the team was burnt out on the Calvard arc whenever in an interview, Kondo would mention how excited the team was the work on the Sky games. Gonna blame it all on Ys X's development since apparently that's why Kuro 2 is the way it is lol.
Regardless, I'm pretty hopeful this arc and the rest of the series will be worth it based on what he said in an interview at some point last year. "If we ruin the ending, then it may as well become the worst series in the world. There's no coming back from that."
I'm sure the sudden surge in cash and new resources from the Sky remakes will help smooth things out a bit lol.
My understanding is that Novartis was the original disciple that somehow got into the current cycle where there are the other three instead. Also a very big fan of the loops/cycles; very much reminds me of a VN story, 13 Sentinels included lol.
As for Rene, yeah, that is my guess as well. He mentioned Van and Elaine don't know anything about him in that last arc, and obv he's the third Grendel so something's gotta be up with him. Saw some people guessing he was with Elaine in the previous loops, and iirc, he had a girlfriend in Kuro 1 or 2 but they broke up for whatever reason. Find it odd to just throw that in the script and have it go nowhere.|
My current guess for Kai 2 is that they're going to rewind back before the rocket launch, forgetting everything. Yume's going to be the only one who remembers what happens based on her seeing what happened with Agnes (with her glowing eyes). There's definitely something up with Mare and Yume, considering Mare possessed Yume before, their names (Van's Grendel's nightMARE motif + Yume = dream in Japanese). Haven't really seen anyone talk about that).
Also, the Claudell women being homunculi with the power to stop the grand resets, which explains why they all look the same.
Lots to theorize for sure. Looking forward to the shareholder meeting in December because I need answers

From looking at the end credits, it looks like this s\*\*\* might rewind all the way back to Kuro 1 because when Van opens the door for Agnes, she straight up disappears. Like, it might make it so that he never met her. Speaking on that, I'm not sure how the Claudell stuff works, its kind of implied that Agnes' whole existence will be erased and that no one will remember her (I think?) but it seems like everyone is aware of Agnes' mum etc. Gonna have to wait for the next game to see whats going on. Also good point on that Rene relationship thing, I remember that they brought up his girlfriend but I just dismissed it
