@Koala Paris left a bad taste in my mouth... Travis essentially kidnaps the kid from his brothers family and then we never see them again after one phone call. For me that was a missed opportunity to lean into the tragedy of the story, and idk how his actions can be considered redemptive, he betrays 2 of the 4 people who care about him, and then leaves his child in an objectively worse situation, its made clear Kinski does not have the money to support him earlier in the film. I love her performance and she carries the last hour, but idk maybe I missed something that justifies the runtime, because from my perspective this story could be told in a couple hours

What's your thoughts on Rosemary's Baby broski ? I actually watched it a few days ago and I'm truly convinced its a black comedy. Not bad by any stretch but far from a masterpiece of horror its labeled. I think the back story of The Dakota, the era and occult, and the Manson murders really helped push it's legacy to make it feel darker.
Ruth Gordon as the ultimate yenta, the fawn Mia Farrow, and the Marcato pasta machine

Deffo some comedy in there as with a lot of Polanski. Its not scary to me, more kind of uncanny with a threatening atmosphere. I love the film though one of my favs. Great performances across the board

Like Shining and Seventh Seal and The Lighthouse it has a reputation for being hyperserious when it's frequently hilarious

It has some black comedy in it, it’s not really scary, the first half is more kind of eerie, but the second half so much is happening that it gets intense and you can just feel the paranoia Rosemary goes through. I think that’s the best part of the film imo.

Again like Shining it's the mounting tension and paranoia
