Still entirely sad that I was too broke in 16/17 when Thundercat was giving 200% at his live shows & doing 25+ song setlists & Oh Sh**t It's X

I almost beat the s*** outta nigga at the New Orleans show. S*** was amazing
On my first listen, obviously it doesn't have the same level of heavy eccentricism as his FlyLo helmed projects but I'm enjoying it (as a whole listen) maybe more than IIWII which I found leaned too heavy into his weird humour & whimsy at times.
Even with tracks I loved like the Steve assembly that is Black Qualls or the touching tribute of Fair Chance with the expertly handled Ty$ & Lil B features or sleeper hit (that I knew should be a hit from day 1) Funny Thing.
It does seem like a calculated move for greater success combined with the body transformation he underwent, although he doesn't sell out or sell himself short at all. I would appreciate him venturing outside of his falsetto voice more often. It could be argued that he also challenged himself by working with an entirely different executive producer for a full project for the first time in his career after years of his Steve & Steve partnership where he told FlyLo he 'just wanted to sing & play bass'
Surprisingly What Is Left To Say didn't hit me as hard on first listen as it seems to have hit others, it leans a bit too heavy into revivalism for me - which makes sense as that was a major critique I had of the Lemon Twigs during their initial run surrounding their first album. It slips my tongue at the moment but the Wurlizter/Rhodes opening sounds as if it came from another classic song which I can't quite place at the moment.
Nevertheless I am enjoying this more than I expected to, though my hopes were quite low going into this. My Thundercat & FlyLo love has tapered off heavily post 2019 but I'll always be a fan.
Upon finishing it, it doesn't really add much to his canon but it is still an enjoyable full length listen, these days with how older songs are now able to go viral many years after release new albums don't always need to make a major mark for these kinds of acts. Still a worthy release for someone 10+ years into their solo career and a lifetime into their musical career.

Happy to hear fam

(Minus the fighting a nigga part
unless it was semi metaphorical )
I have seen him a couple times but they were both sub 1hr sets, I feel like I never got the super full length show I wanted

He was Drunk and I was Drunk but he was bumping my sister, he got lucky she pull me and my cousin out the venue. I would've hit that nigga with every bass in the house
I left before the encore but top 5 show I've been too

that's beautiful fam, I need that top 5 feeling this year, last time I was most hyped was at Clipse
did you have to make travel arrangements or was there another reason you left before the encore?
I usually only leave early if the show is letting me down/it was cheap/I gotta make it over to something else happening after/I'm at a festival and need to get to another stage
I hear you fully on that tbf, once when I was ~13 a grown man grabbed, pulled and moved me because his family were small and couldn't see over me, I was vexed
I had a older family friend in the building who offered to handle him at the end of the show but I said leave it because I ain't want him to get in trouble/someone to call 12 (especially because he had minor priors)

Nah, my Dad gave me a complex while teaching me to protect my sister. I don't listen to reason in them situations. She get me out of them scenarios to protect me because the first time I broke a nigga ribs in HS because he told a couple jokes about my sister π
I had to go to the Drunk show drunk off lemonade and Seagram's gin. That night made cat one of my goats

Thundercat loved Gin too (I don't think he drinks much now), Drink Dat with him and Wiz supposedly came to be after he was hanging with Wiz & had him drinking lukewarm cups of Bombay Sapphire
Women do require additional protection so I feel that, obviously you gotta be careful though. We all gotta know when it's best to walk away from a fight (not because we'd lose but because of legal issues etc.)
although high school fights are different obviously, it ain't gonna be no legal issues with that. S/O to her though, sometimes we need protecting from ourselves, I used to have a bad temper eons ago. Last time I've actually got riled up was ~2022, fumbled a guaranteed pull because of it

That man from HS is no longer with us. He had a lot of problems around the city, from what I'm told
I'm only hyper defensive about my sister or if niggas go at my family. Some niggas on here found out the hard way I don't be playing around about my family

Not to him, but in general since this just reminded me
S/O to the fallen niggas from our youth who are no longer with us
Y'all hear that, don't dare talk no mess about our man's sister
Y'all better stay on the rightside of Leftside
Yachty really sucks
Smino, Isaiah Rashad, or Freddie Gibbs would've smoked that track bro.
Tapping in.
enjoy the vibes!
I think Drunk is still his best work personally but this one is dope...wonder if he drops a deluxe or anything down the line with a few more joints
I understand Mac. Trying to figure out what to say to get my d*** sucked rn too

i like your review bro
Just played this over, I was tired as f*** yesterday and dozed off while it was on.
It's an alright album, real chill. "She Knows Too Much" with Mac is the best track to me. "ThunderWave" is pretty dope too, even though it sounds like it belongs to a totally different project than the rest of this. Him and WILLOW could make a lil EP if that's how they're coming.
