We all have our individual preferences and opinions but I think its safe to say that these are the 10 greatest Hip-Hop artists of all time

There are a lot of other legendary rappers ofc but when you look everything overall I don't think you could say anyone else deserves a slot more than any of these guys

    In no particular order...

Salute the true GOATS of Hip-Hop music

Jay-Z, Nas, Biggie, Pac, Eminem, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Andre 3000, Drake, Kendrick Lamar

    β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”

Edit: Everyone on the list has elite skill in multiple areas as well as elite success. There are plenty of rappers with one of those but few with both.

As far as skill goes I think it goes without saying that objectively all of these guys are phenomenal at what they do. Hov, Nas, Big, Em, Andre, Wayne, and Kendrick easily some of the most beloved lyricist of all time. Kanye the most musically talented artist hip-hop has ever seen. Drake is the most versatile artist hip-hop has ever seen mastering every modern form of the genre.

As far as success goes every rapper on the list has multiple critically acclaimed projects, sold millions of records, has secured #1 albums and has also charted multiple times on the hot 100 with at least 2 top 10 hits. Nas has the least with 2 Drake obviously has the most with a staggering 58 top 10 hits. For comparison Ice Cube has 0 (Since a lot of people keep bringing him up)

Drake and Kanye on there because they sold a lot of records even tho they both have writers is hilarious

Wayne is arguable but at this point he may have been mediocre longer than he was good

    Wayne and Drake fell off

Cole and Lupe got better discographies and are better at rapping. I don’t see the problem b.

  • Aug 12, 2022

Drake hasn’t dropped a good album since 2015. The same album he used a ghostwriter for..

You trynna tell me I’m supposed to put him in top 10 rappers oat???

    whats longevity to u?

longevity is solely a braindead hip hop fan thing niggas like to bring up to push agendas

in literally essentially no other genres do people factor in whether or not an artist is still putting out great music way after their artistic peaks when they're doing all time rankings, they are usually solely assessed by their best works, and that's how it should be because no one stays great forever

the all time greats in most genres tend to be massively influential, have innovated/pushed the genre's boundaries in one way or another, and have an outstanding ability musically that elevates them among their peers, so that's how i usually grade my s*** across the board, seems like people are making s*** up in thin air itt to place their favs on top

Bob Dylan and Neil Young adding the absurd length to the depth, width and height of their career is definitely part of the reason they're considered as legendary as they are. Pretty much in a category of their own.
