it's hard to accept that you'll never know silence again

i only really hear it when i'm going to sleep or it's dead quiet at home
i've only hit the cinemas once since I got it, don't want to go again in fear of making it worse

how do you lot feel on planes/cinemas/events?

when i first got i was really paranoid about making it worse over time that worry eased but i'll still mostly use speakers when at home and if i go to a concert or any loud event ill bring loop earplugs

The big thing that sucks is that headphones really gotta go, that was a huge adjustment for me

But movies can work! Get yourself a pair of really good concert earplugs (they're worth the investment) and properly insert them, and a lot of movies should be fine, of course different cinemas can vary in volume, but you can usually get a good feel for them after one movie

Big action stuff and IMAX releases aren't good though, if you can feel the bass in your body, it's doing too much for any earplugs to block, and could cause damage, but comedies, dramas, even a lot of musicals can be alright with earplugs, sadly actual concerts are just not happening, way too much unregulated noise

I used mostly nice wired earbuds from like Marshall for years and years with music cranked all day and never noticed a problem. Finally said f*** it and tried some Bose Bluetooth sound reducing ones and within like 2 months had developed tinnitus

One of the biggest mistakes of my life. Movie just ended and I'm sitting in ringy silence at this moment.

dam bro sorry to hear that. one thing i have is that 'water flowing' effect in my ears when i go to sleep but im pretty sure it has more to do with blood pressure than ear damage

Weird thing is the wired earbuds seemed louder. The Bluetooth ones never seemed loud enough but I think the sound cancelling affect trapped too much noise in my ear or something.

i really dont know if its problem with my jaw/TMJ or my ears but it’d check out since i’ve played music too loud since i was a child
