Had a car accident Saturday morning that caused the airbag to deploy and the sound of it completely f***ed my left ear. Muffled & distorted hearing with sensitivity to loud sounds + constant tinnitus. It’s persisted since then, maybe slightly gotten better over the past few days. I went to go see an ENT doctor yesterday and they told me that it’s likely inner ear trauma/damage and they prescribed me a high dosage of prednisone with a taper over the next few weeks to see if it helps at all. I read online that starting this medication within the first week of trauma typically increases the odds of recovery so I’m optimistic that it will continue to greatly improve my hearing/sensitivity but even then I’m worried I may be stuck with the tinnitus forever now. This s*** f***ing sucks so bad man, mine’s not super loud or distracting but the fact that it’s just been nonstop constant the past 5 days is what sucks so bad. Especially since mine’s from a single traumatic induced incident instead of prolonged overexposure to loud music/environments.
