Nothing wrong in business. Fine in creative fields as long as you do protections for trades and creatives and steer and guide and write your own s*** (to a point)

Creation in art is not about the destination. That’s commerce that’s capitalism which is the only likely place you’d get such thinking from - you can try to convince yourself otherwise. Art is the journey and that’s not cliche that’s truth

    Process not product

See this is really the fundamental distinction between our ways of thinking. I think art IS about the destination. It's not commerce and capitalism though, that's a leap you're making. I see art as a living thing. It's out there walking around among us. Once you make it, it leaves you. Creation is just that. Creation. It's about the creation. You're trying to make a thing. A beautiful thing. Now, the journey is very fulfilling. There's a lot to learn from the journey. And if you never get to the destination that doesn't mean the journey was valueless. But, I see the artist as Frankenstein.

Art is definitely about the journey.

Same way if I told AI to write me a break up song and it gave me the perfect song

As opposed to someone who just experienced a breakup and goes to the studio and records a raw take

if AI is able to give everyone the perfect song at the press of a button then we'd probably need to lobotomize it. I'm not advocating for that.

True I was thinking more of this and was wondering

Ai is just a tool to bring ideas to life.

Just how a painter is using a brush as a tool.

If we base uniqueness on emotion tied to the brush strokes it’s really no difference if one is able to identify characteristics and use AI to help create their vision

    It is a trade off

U sacrifice the journey of learning how to do things the hard way but u get faster results

Longterm u gotta balance that s*** or else youll lose a ton of technical expertise and intelligence in general. I see myself lose a lot of my programming skill from using chatgpt a lot

True but I’ll debate this. I might be reaching.

Do you know how to build a cpu from scratch before you use a computer ?

Does an artist know the technical aspects of a microphone before they record?

The scariest thing about this is relying on a tool to do everything and once that tool is no longer available, humanity is back at step one relearning.

Doesn’t AI take massive amounts of energy?

What are the benefits of it after you’ve used up the same amount of power as New York and San Diego combined

A paintbrush is an apparatus that is necessary in certain creative processes. AI is not that.

    Hmm

I think art loses meaning when its too easy to make. I also feel like true creativity takes a long time to cultivate so id say the journey is more important. Plus the skills u learn on the way will make u much more proficient than someone who just relies on AI
