whippet volverse· editedbecause a lot of Spotify streams come from people on the free tier. the free streams are weighted less. can't remember the number equivalent but you need a lot more free Spotify streams to count as a sale compared to a paid one. by comparison there isn't a free version of Apple Music.
Do you know the proportion of premium users to free users? That’s interesting to me, I guess what makes sense

lol because you're not the casual fan. most people on Spotify free don't really listen to music that deeply. so they're okay with getting ads, having to listen on shuffle etc bc they probably just turn on a playlist. or a podcast

I didn’t say they were that relevant. They tell you who has more hits. Taylor ain’t getting hits for s*** and that’s why she’s low on monthly listeners despite having a fanbase who streams her music a lot
