It's true. The stock market is mostly held by the top 1% of the population (I think they own somewhere about 95% of the market?) but how about instead of abolishing it, we just tax at more appropriate rates.

Is this like the equivalent of a Joe Kennedy shoe shine stock tip? Just to keep it topical to the thread

    i mean basically

Just look at Robinhood. The name alone paints a picture of stealing from the rich and giving to the poor when really it's just glorified gambling. It keeps the average person running as fast as possible on their little economic treadmill so that they can what, give their money to big corporations? It couldn't be more antithetical to the original robinhood tale if they tried.

And people eat that s*** up because they've been brainwashed by the media to assume that they need MORE and they need STATUS and they need GROWTH and they need to CONSUME and they have to WORK HARD. To what ends?

All we truly need is a roof, food, and community.

Disengaging from the rat race and living more slowly and in tune with nature and community is an incredibly revolutionary act. We saw what happened in the US with the first lockdown, I already mentioned it ITT but as a nation when we only bought ESSENTIALS it nearly collapsed their entire stock market/economy. If that's not a sign that we need to reevaluate how we do things....

sounds like a start. People happy about the 20 dollars they made of it but forget the bigger picture happening.

and what does that have to do with oil

you still haven’t answered my question

you're obviously not smart enough to get the discussion about resources you started

    it was a rhetorical

it's supposed to make you question how such a "mighty" nation with abundant resources disappeared

so now i'm going to stop quoting you and disengage

Stock market apart from boosting the already corrupt capitalist system and further making the rich even richer is from a moral pov disgusting. Basically gambling with the livelihood of normal working class people and literally profiting of tragedies and exploitation.

The poor suffer under it while some of them even fall into traps losing their invested money. Meanwhile the rich can just easily invest into multiple sources and nearly always end up with profit.

It is not a game for smart people to get richer but a tool for capitalist pigs to exploit and abuse the system.

Of course there are cases of normal people making tons of money but those examples are so rare that they are not that different than believing in the American Dream.

the stock market allows everyone to buy shares of companies. it allows companies to be owned by the general public

would you rather have every company be privately owned?

Stock market gives the average person to multiply their money and have greater opportunities to build their portfolios through various indexes

    nobody cares about rhetoric bro

Oil has nothing to do with a country being mighty unless you’re looking at it from a slimy neoliberal perspective where economic control over resources makes one “better” because they have power over others

Cuba is a more mighty country than the USA

Maybe because the the handshake is outweighted by the 24 million Sowjet union soldiers that died by the hands of the German.
