Whats the reference?
Paulie definitely involved in Tony's death one way or another
Feel like scenes like Tony trashing the painting in Paulie house, Paulie saying he never comes around no more, him kinda scheming with Vito while Tony was in the hospital, and most importantly Tony deciding not to kill him on the boat, hint at that
Paulie refuses to take the crew that Tony offers him and say it is bad luck, when he relents to say OK, he looks super grim as he exits the building
Paulie and Patsy have suspicious conversations that stop once Tony enters the room
Butchie orders the hits on the New Jersey family in his barber shop, very next scene, Paulie enters the Bing backrooms with a box of scissors, also in Christian tradition, Judas gives Jesus pieces of silver metal before betraying him, similar to the scissors
Paulie and Patsy have a very strange scene that is unexplained where Paulie omniously says "It's your's, my friend" at the urinal, I couldn't find this scene on YouTube and it cuts away right afterwards without context
When Butchie orders the hit on the top 3 guys, Paulie gets specifically excluded despite officially being underboss at the time
The theory is that Patsy knew from his son, who was Meadow's partner, where the Sopranos ate that night, and gave the info to New York, who sent the assassin. It would mirror the Phil hit in that Phil got wacked in front of his family as well
Other clues:
Chrissy has a coma dream about hell and says they told him "3 o'clock" - the shooter would come out of the toilet at a 3 o'clock angle to Tony
They eat 3 onion rings (Last Supper reference?), there is a family of 3 kids behind him, Junior talks about the "law of threes", Meadow parks successfully at the thrid attempt, and this would be the third attempt at Tony's life
Meadow enters the building too late, so that the shooter has a clear sight of line at shooting Tony, otherwise Meadow would sit besides him. It was Meadow who was his "guardian angel" and the first person he heard after his coma, but in this case, he wasn't besides her. In the opening of Season 5, there is a narration that talks about guardian angels and shows Meadow while it is said
It mirrors the Godfather in that the shooter hides the gun on the toilet and comes back and shoots the victim, one of many Godfather references in the Sopranos
Bobby tells Tony "you would never hear it coming" when talking about getting shot, Tony has a flashback to this scene during his safehouse phase, the same thing happens at the end, sudden fade to black
The man who shots Tony has a Member's Only jacket, a jacket also worn by Eugene. Eugene killed a man named Teddy Spirakis (T.S.), same initials at Tony, also at a diner. Tony refused to let Eugene to Florida and Eugene killed himself. That episode was called Member's Only. The shooter wears the same jacket. Also, Silvio's shooter also wears a Member's Only jacket.
The Member's Only guy is actually staring at Tony throughout the scene, however, he isn't in focus (because Tony is distracted), this happens around the time AJ says "you should focus on the good times"

“Meadow is filled with nothing but very, very deep emotions about parking her car. But possibly a minute later, her head will be filled with emotions she could never even imagine. We all take this stuff so seriously-losing our keys, parking our car, a winter cold, a summer cold, an allergy-whatever it is. And this stuff fills our mind from second to second. And the big moment is always out there waiting.”
The last episode features a lot of "point of view" shots from Tony's perspective, and David Chase said he did it intentionally to show that Tony ultimately is responsible for his own fate - this fits in with the theory that the cut to black is his death, since his POV ends there; the show's very first scene is also a POV shot by Tony
The same model SUV that Phil drove in his last scene passes by Meadow as she runs to the diner
The Member's Only Guy looks very similar to Johnny Boy, Tony's father. It would fit the theme of the show that his parents corrupted him to a certain extent (it was Johnny who ordered Tony's first murder)
When Tony comes to life after his coma, the screen turns white. In the final scene, the screen turns black, which would indicate the opposite, namely that he died
In one of Tony's dreams, he retrieves a gun hidden in the bathroom, just as in Godfather and in the final scene.
AJ explicitly references this Godfather scene after trying to kill Junior, saying that that's Tony's favorite scene and inspired him to revenge his father
There are probably a dozen references to JFK and the Kennedy family in this show. This would warrant a separate post if someone is interested. There are also a few Lincoln references in the last season. The Kennedy family and the Soprano family are compared throughout the show. Both Lincoln and JFK were "bosses" who were shot.

So many ez layup choices ans they go this route
lmfaooo
What am i f***ing fodder for redditors now????
As David Chase said years ago before people started podcasts and wrote books a***yzing the show, "it's all there"
Tony at dinner mentions that Carlo flipped. Tony is going down as the head of a major RICO case and will absolutely go to prison for life.
The show was ultimately about family and nothing else. Tony's blood family as well as his mafia family are both over.

Sopranos rewatching is crazy
Richie Aprile is a phenomenal actor and underrated on first watch this guy steals every scene he in
On season 6A of my rewatch. Didn’t notice on my first watch that in beginning in episode 2 in that alt universe Tony doesn’t have his Jersey accent. It’s jarring af lol

Fun fact is back when David Chase wants to make Sopranos a movie Ritchie actor was supposed to play Tony but by the time it was picked up as a show he was too old for the part
Junior killing Tony because of his dementia would’ve actually been a crazy ending to the series
Junior killing Tony because of his dementia would’ve actually been a crazy ending to the series
Would ve opened up a never ending debate of "was it truly the dementia or do old habits die hard???"
Would ve opened up a never ending debate of "was it truly the dementia or do old habits die hard???"
Facts
Family always played a big part in the series and Tony. That being his downfall and from Junior who attempted to have him killed in season 1 unintentionally killing him in the end would’ve been a full circle moment
Maybe karma of sorts for Tony’s dislike of the elderly he always expressed
