In a time where streams were worth less
oh i saw the early predictions in the comments (of course)
I feel like a hit is pretty simple across all eras and changing dominant forms of consumption, much more simple than everyone is putting it:
can people not tapped into music or pop culture recognize or hum or sing along to it or recite a main section without having listened to it voluntarily?
Disagree if people dont like rap expecting them to know rap doesnt make sense. Same with any genre. Especially now with so many more subgenres.

Ok I get you, now I’m definitely describing a smash tho
But just a hit if it’s not that then idk tbh

Why title track way down there lol
Why title track way down there lol
Cause it’s one of the worse beats to ever grace my ears
Why title track way down there lol
Also can I have my money yet
not a single song from the better album MOH smh he shouldve dropped it a month later with habibti
you say this as if anybody of a sound mind expects drake to not outsell kendrick first week
Idk. A commercial sounding album like GNX with 18 tracks, a proper rollout with full a full week of tracking, and 2-3 mainstream features equivalent to Future/21 and it’s right there.
All i said was squabble up and tv off out performed anything on iceman first week
That’s because diluted the amount of potential hits by dropping 41 songs. He sacrificed that to make history album wise

Let’s gooo new cope

How is the potential diluted? Any potential hit is still competing with the same amount of songs that Kendrick had to compete with

Because people are trying to get through 41 songs and several potential hits on 3 different albums. Pretty simple concept.

Releasing three albums at once typically dilutes individual song streams by spreading a fanbase's attention too thin, which in turn hurts peak Billboard Hot 100 debut positions.
Thank you ai
He intentionally did this because he more interested in tying Michael Jackson for having the top 3 spots simultaneously on the bb200 album chart and to be the first artist to do it on debut. You’re playing checkers, he’s playing chess.

Worst beat ever and it’s 3 minutes of hitta j peso verses and Kendrick squeeking LIKE WAOOOOOOHHHH
Audio terrorism

i mean yeah given those circumstances but for GNX ? nah
frankly iceman might do about the same or a little less than what a full tracking week FATD would’ve had

which is interesting considering iceman is definitely much higher stakes of an album and had a bigger rollout
also w/ the streaming change made to sales units overall helping streams matter more

I'm playing with myself

He could probably come close but i think he would fall short of 400k. It would be even lower if he dropped 2 other albums.
But 21 feat adds nothing if anything is a negative. Future feat only really gave boost cause 1 the song is good, 2 cause they had beef and made up, Future boost dont always work ie jcole.
But i like Future feats because his feats are usually his songs so it can bring something different to an artists album.
what hit was on fatd? closest thing was rich baby daddy and that was barely top 10. slime you out doesn’t count all the drake fans i know irl don’t even remember that song lol
a hit doesn't count cuz anecdote. got it
drake fans fr scrambling to justify drake winning longterm
these number drop offs tho
just enjoy the music, if you need drake to win by comparison instead of just releasing an album you love you're doing it wrong
why would drake fans scramble. Iceman is gonna outsell gnx and drake is gonna keep dominating the billboard 200 chart like always. nothing's changed. he's untouchable

Audience attention and some songs will overlook others. Also can only push so many songs at once. Thats why usually post release labels/artists usually do pne at a time.
Look at just $$$4U Die Trying basically got shelved and it easily couldve been a hit.
