YA ICEMAN ACEWhat is the point you're trying to make with the insistence that it was a surprise album? That it serves as a caveat and the sales expectations should be lowered?
I started this convo and my point was y'all are comparing a surprise release to the album with beef talk after 2 years and months of heavy promo (livestreams, title been known for like a year, ice blocks, What Did I Miss, music videos etc) when there's 3 Drake albums over the past 4 years with similar marketing y'all can compare GNX to. How is it a W that Iceman outsold, it should've with all that money and effort spent on marketing
That moron then tried to say a 5 second snippet at the beginning of a music video is comparable to Iceman's promoGNX outsold Habibti and MOH combined. Drake has never been able to do 319k fw off a surprise release even though he's dropped 3 this decade now. Kendrick is not doing 400k fw on his next album, I'll say that right now. But seriously celebrating "Iceman outsold GNX" like it's some sort of victory is clown behavior🤡

Drake has released two surprise solo rap albums in his career; IYRTITL (535k fw with three days tracking) and DLDT (223k fw). It would be fair to criticize DLDT as a commercial lull.. but as a counter it was a bunch of loosies and leaks thrown together and I'm pretty sure consumption was still down due to COVID in May so ehh
And Habibti and MOH were surprise projects... R&B and dance... both released in the same week and competing directly against the solo rap project that had been promoted for over a year... so obviously a bad comparison there
