I love TMB. My favourite Thom solo. Has soundtracked many a cold winter night walk.
might need to relisten this way

There's something to having a low-key release that's not trying to be monumental and just trying to vibe.
I love TMB, even if it's lower on my list, I wouldn't say it doesn't achieve what it's setting out to do. It's still a hit.
How do Read the Room and You Know Me! indicate Radiohead not happening in the future?
Thom and Jonny were the ones that wanted the band to continue previously and they started the Smile to stall.
They don't indicate anything right now...my point was that if you listen to both songs with that perspective in mind I can see where that comment is coming from.
I don't think any band member would say that they don't want the band to continue but when Phil indicates that the band is 'coming to that point to regroup', and Thom and Jonny leave future RH plans up for ambiguity, that doesn't tell me that The Smile was merely a stalling point until RH regrouped.
A ton has changed since 2015-16. I'd imagine that imagining what next chapter of Radiohead could be is a major burden on everyone involved.

Haven't listened to this in ages. Need to burn it for the next blizzard

Jonny, when asked, have usually brought Ed up as a reason for RH not reuniting or people being busy. Phil's record was done in 2022, but he wanted to tour it and release it properly in 2023. But Ed's in the middle of finishing his second solo album and never got to properly release/tour his first back in 2020. I think every time there's an opening Ed/Phil say to give it another year and check back.
Phil may be ready for reuniting, but Ed isn't right now. So it's kinda irrelevant what Thom/Jonny are doing if that isn't happening regardless. Hence the Smile touring incessantly since 2022 and putting two albums out back to back in the meantime.

Fking Ed
stop proving the band doesn't need two guitarists
yeah so a few years back it was a real thing in music communities that we should start calling krautrock kosmische music because krautrock is racist towards germans or whatever the f***
was laughing at that s*** for a good couple of years idk why p4k would want to restore the feeling now
check out Can's first albums up until Future Days and Popol Vuh. I never cared for krautrock as much as I liked British space rock i.e. hawkwind
Nah but Krautrock was a term coined by english-language publications. The musicians themselves called it Kosmische Musik. Considering all the non-rock pieces it makes more sense.
Even though I personally use Kosmische Musik for the more electronic/Ambient artists (Schulze, Tangerine Dream, etc.) and Krautrock for the rockier ones (Can, Faust, etc.)
Like this one a lot more than the Debut.
Dreamier and somehow more focused. Also, still can't get over how Skirting In A Surface turned Out on that Last one.
You Know Me!, Under Our Pillows and Bending Hectic might be my favs
After having lived with this album for a bit now I can genuinely say that I really love it. I think I like it better than Moon Shaped Pool too honestly. This one sounds fresher than anything Thom & JG have done in a while. I'm glad they let Nigel sit this one out.
ok this is good i definitely enjoyed it more my second time around. but the a side > b side
bending hectic is the standout on the b side. friend of a friend is pretty good, i quit is my least favorite on here. you know me! ends the album a bit anticlimatically for me.
but the a side is really really good. thom sounds great. it all sounds great on some speakers. i think my first listen was headphones
2nd listen
raw thoughts
Wow you're behind I'm pretty sure I'm over 30 now
Hard to tell cause I play the CD in my car all day and I drive a ton for work too
