I could never get into Radiohead sadly but wow, Teleharmonic might be one of the best songs i’ve heard in a minute.

Kid A and TKOL are arguably better.

Idk bout arguably but I do personally like kid a and tkol more

But I feel like it's weird that I love electronic music and Radiohead cause goddam so many Radiohead fans HATE tkol

In rainbows is really low on my ranking anyways, still a 10

Loving this album. I wasn’t too big of a fan of the first Smile project mostly because of the production. I like that they switched up from Nigel here.

Agreed, but it probably shouldn't have been called a Radiohead album lol. My only complaint is it's too short/needed those special b sides somewhere on it

I really love the remix version of the album too

    Wait, who's a Zionist?

Long story, but maybe? It's not really "news", people are just bringing stuff up that's been known/questionable for a while. Jonny Greenwood's extended family on his wife's side is from Israel and "Creep" first became popular there, leading the band to play there quite often over the years. Most notable was a performance in 2017 which caused a big media fuss. People publicly insulted them in the media, protestors showed up at shows and Thom cursed at them, etc. Jonny's wife is Zionist and has said some insane stuff online. Jonny's largely been silent on the issue publicly as a result of this (he extended sympathies on Oct 7 but has said nothing since). Thom hasn't ever really spoken on the issue outside of an angry statement to RollingStone saying they should be able to play wherever they want without being labeled something. So calling Thom a Zionist is a stretch, but Jonny probably is unfortunately.

Ed O'Brien of Radiohead and Tom Skinner of the Smile have both publicly called for ceasefires and for a free Palestine, as well as many of the musicians they're friends with/work with. So whatever beliefs Thom/Jonny hold has not stopped them from working with one another, and I'm not sure how attached Jonny is to specific political positions (he's always been the least political of the entire band). No one in their circles except Jonny's insane wife is putting anything negative into the world politically outside of just not making a statement on it, which to some is enough to abandon the band entirely.

Okay it sounds messy and complicated from a PR perspective. I'm often left wondering about the best thing to do as an artist, between staying silent, which leads to you being accused of not using your platform to shed light on important matters, or speaking and splitting your fanbase. That being said, I'm happy that there are members of The Smile who have spoken out on the situation in Gaza. It's a shame about Jonny and his wife though

I was young, was my first pre order ever I think, listened to it on repeat on a drive to go camping

Somehow even just that memory is burned into my brain

Also remember pretending to s*** for a long time so the dial up would finish downloading it and putting it on my iPod shuffle

Even with hip hop it's better

I was the dude who posted spottemgottem beatbox to Reddit first because of this site pumping it up (and I loved it) - led to like 7 months of people searching that one post to harass me just for posting it. Got like 3 up votes in total when I first posted lmao

  • What I remember distinctly about the King of Limbs era is a music video of Thom Yorke dancing lmao

To me, I'm not paying Jonny to give me his political takes. I'm paying Jonny to play write and play good music/art.

If he's not putting anything bad out into the world and not actively saying heinous s***, he's ahead of a lot of people out there right now. I'd take silence over bigotry any day.

Ed (RH)/Stanley (RH)/Tom (The Smile)/Tarik (Thom solo)/Michael Stipe (REM)/more in the band's circles all being pro-Gaza also helps, because it tells me that Jonny's loyalty may lie with respecting his family and keeping his mouth shut on the whole situation regarding those issues rather than a true racist attitude towards Palestinians (like people in his personal circles may have).
