Song of the year best song in a long time

Does anyone like this album and has also been a fan of him for the entirety of the last decade? I had never really listened to him before this album so I had nothing to expect other than the fact that people had been waiting for him to drop an album for the longest. I get the idea that most people who don’t like this album were in that camp. Personally think this is aoty or near aoty

I like the album and been a fan shortly after he dropped Exhibit C. He had set wildly high expectations for himself after that, dude was Kendrick Lamar before Kendrick Lamar. So for him to build up all that anticipation only to scrap the album and have Jay-Z featured all over it is very polarizing.

Yep I've been a big fan for years and think this album is excellent. I think a big thing for some fans (a small minority in my opinion) is that they wanted act 2 and for example are judging it on having too much jay z etc instead of accepting it for what it is and then judging it. They are judging it before taking in the music properly.

If you accept it for what it is you'll recognise it's an excellent album. And of course critics arent everything but its got universal acclaim on metacritic which is telling and if you look at any of the mixed reviews they normally mention things like too much jay z for a debut album, which is nothing to do with the music itself

I hear what your saying bro, I think for us long time fans we have to accept the music for what it is rather than what we thought it would be.

It's a debut album featuring HOV, it's a highway robbery. I do understand that we all had our thoughts on what his debut album would sound like based on the leaks and singles from it but that's not what this album is, and imo its an excellent album with great lyricism, topics and beats from two excellent rappers. Theres no one else that can rap like jay (no one else has the same mixture of the topics he raps about and unique type of lyricism) and Jay Z definitely was on his A* game on this
