Been listening to a lot of NOLA stuff lately.

They only got 2 albums but they're pretty legendary in the NOLA scene. Sammy Duet from Goatwhore was the guitarist.
Not much of their stuff is on youtube but both albums are on spotify.

Deathspell Omega anyone?
They’re well liked in this thread. Incredible band. They have a killer discography.

Them and Esoteric (Funeral doom from the UK) are my favourite.
Heard DsO turned NSBM though

Yeah, I guess their singer has some ties to a NSBM label, but I’ve also heard he has no input on the music and lyrics, so idk what’s up with them.

But for real though NSBM was the reason why I left black metal behind. Darkthrone and Immortal were probably the only two bands that I listened to without feeling uneasy

DsO have always been the same so they didn't really turn into anything. It was funny suddenly they started to get attention with that last album, probably since Fantano, etc reviewed them. But nothing musically screams NSBM.

I’ll have to check more of them out, what I listened to of that vid was dope.
I listen to more death than black, but I understand that. I try to avoid the nsbm stuff when I can but I’m sure some of the bands I’ve listened to have toed that line.

I think it’s just the Mikko Aspa thing broski. I’ve read he has really no input on the music, and the lyrics have nothing to do with any of the nsbm stuff so it’s whatever to me.

I love Aspa's vocals on DsO, he fits them perfectly. Sounds vile.. But he's a weird dude in general, you ever seen those art projects he makes ? Like a collage of p***ography, degradation, and other filth
But yea nothing about DsO scream NSBM.

super thick bass grooves and riffs from one of hardcore's most legendary bands.

I haven’t but I’ve read some quotes from him out of interviews and you're right he seems like a strange dude. I was looking for the interview band did(only the second one ever I believe) and it’s a slog and sounds almost pretentious, but what I took from it is they bring him in to sing for them and that’s basically it. The band itself is more anti authoritarian.
