The working class and under class needed those people back then because they were more oppressed and needed the educated to speak for them. We are now in the age of information. Is the article saying he has more Black supporters than White ones or that out of the entire voting pool, a higher % of Black voters like Bernie where as a higher % of White voters don't?

If it is the second then that would make total sense, but it wouldn't mean that Bernie has more Black supporters than White ones.
