At the end of the day there are no villains in this world

Let's not forget Joel used to rob and hurt people by luring them in and pretending to be hurt

Its very controversial to paint the main protagonist of part 1 as a bad person, but I meannnn from the Fireflies perspective...Joel was pretty s***ty. He single handedly ruined any hope of saving humanity

to be fair, i also despised abby up until the last 15 mins. it felt like they were trying to justify joel's death by making me empathise with her. i even let ellie kill abby a couple times in the theatre for the satisfaction of knowing ellie "wins"

the moment ellie threatened to kill lev if abby didnt fight her was kinda when i (began???) to empathise with abby (i still don't like her as much as ellie although my replay of the game is making her grow on me a lot). i definitely do think the game is about cycles and how becoming so consumed by the idea of revenge or has most of the characters see it, justice can lead irreversible consequences. but also during ellie's part of the game her justification for killing all of abby's friends is justice when its more so sadism masquerading as justice.

i'm not mad at the ending tbh. i think ellie made the right decision. i would've hated if she actually did kill abby, regardless of whether i liked her or not. i think the crux of what the game is attempting to communicate is how the cycles of violence can ruin someone and by ellie not killing abby, she stops the cycle. thats just my take on it. i don't think i articulated myself the way i wanted but i think with time i'll have a more articulate interpretation of the game

Ellie woulda never killed the kid it was just to get Abby to fight. Frankly I’m just mad they forced us to go and ruin our happy life (minus the ptsd) on a tiny sliver of a chance she would be in Santa Barbara based on the word of a random motherfucker tommy met. Just doesn’t make any sense

Humanity was done for anyways you think just cause a cure was made everyone would go back to normal? Lol and Joel was justified they were going to murder a 14 year old girl without her consent. The fireflies were evil from every perspective that isn’t theirs

Ellie tortured Nora while she was getting infected even though she knew about what Joel did just to find Abby

I guess Ellie can do anything and still be the hero that deserved a happy ending because we were emotionally attached to her and her adopted mass murderer of a father that decided he wanted another daughter instead of saving humanity.

Humanity wasn’t going to be saved you imbecile Stop defending a child’s potential murder and nora was a part of Joel’s murder so frankly I don’t give a damn. And Ellie was quite clearly shaken up and showed remorse afterwards while every time Abby did something awful she took gratification in it. But you still want to jerk her off

    Abby -“She’s pregnant”
“Good” Proceeds to almost slitting her throat before lev steps in
Ellie sees a woman she killed was pregnant - has a panic attack

At the end of the day, we know Ellie would've been ok with dying for the cure.

Soooo Joel is justified by going on a murderous rampage through a hospital and killing doctors to save someone who wanted to humanity by any means necessary. Then killing Marlene who was Ellie's mother figure, then lying to Ellie and telling her that she actually isnt special

But the only group in the world who were trying to save humanity and attempt to fix things are the big bad guys?

Guess who's the child murderer now? Ellie after murdering Mel with a baby that is due any minute

Not to mention Abbys father seemed like he been studying this for a long time, I'd trust him with this...ALSO the fact that Ellie her self told Joel she'd rather be dead for a chance to find a cure.

I'm not telling you to empathize with Abby, but dont make it seem like Ellie is Jesus Christ that can't do nothing wrong just coz we loved her and Joel in the first game.

This is a whole new game, and her actions led to her demise in the end.

Ellie knew her whole life purpose was to save humanity.
I'm sure she was aware that she may have to end up dying for the cause

I know he does his best to try to NOT seem like it, but AngryJoe really appears to share many many sentiments with the loser side of gaming

and this isnt the first game that's made me had this thought. Not calling him an loser btw

nah no lie I had the same reaction after watching his review. It's just such a childish take for any grown adult to have.

They slaughtered people just like everyone else but you gonna act like they saints huh? “Everything is justified with this one act” -abbys dad like cmon these people were evil as s*** whether you like Joel or not. And Ellie may have been okay with it now but she had no decision while it was happening soooo

Am I the only one who didn't feel bad when Joel died? Abby's anger is totally justifiable and from her perspective killing Joel is the right move.

She didn’t know she was pregnant jackass don’t make it seem like it’s the same thing even though it was still horrible. And did you not find the recorders? They had tapes going over how they went through picking apart others brains trying to make a cure and they all failed. So yeah f*** that doctor and any faith you would have in him. Even if he did succeed he was still ready to knowingly kill a little girl for it. The writers hoed Ellie she wasn’t Jesus but she deserved better than them to write her as the bad guy and make Abby a saint

Bruh that's the point, no one is a saint in this world. Literally everyone has done vile acts , that is the only way to stay alive. But we can't act like Joel is hasnt done plenty of f***ed up s***, im sure even Joel would agree that he isnt a good person by any means

I'm not saying "fuck Joel" , but no one should be surprised that Joel's actions came back to haunt him in the end. Only reason why people see Joel's actions as "ok" is because he was the protagonist

I don’t have any problem with why Joel died I said that earlier Idk why you’re bringing that up

  • Jul 3, 2020

Imagine if you played as Abby and her father in the TLOU1 instead. Your goal is to travel through the country to make sure your neuro surgeon father makes it to the hospital because he is the last hope to extract a cure.
Everything is going fine at the end, until this unknown man kicks open the door and guns everyone down

You would automatically hate Joel and would absolutely want him dead

    nigga WHAT?

I don’t see the ending as anything phenomenal tbh. I mainly just see it as the repercussions that Ellie has to deal with as a result of being so consumed by revenge. I’m pretty sure naughty dog intended for the ending to feel empty and for us to feel the same way Ellie does in that spot.

    and they succeeded.

But that's not a fun video game my g.

and I play video games to have fun.

I will say this game is corny for pulling that Mel/Ellie angle considering how many shorties does Ellie kill without blinking that was most likely in early stages of pregnancy?

I stopped caring about Dina just off the strength she was horrible AI
