They confirmed they are sticking with Bella

Not mad at it tbh she was a great Ellie imo. She just needs to bulk tf out so we can see her burnout after 5 years

They confirmed they are sticking with Bella

saw people saying she could get recast cause there's a time jump so I looked it up

the time jump is from Ellie at like 14 to 19

thought it was gonna be Ellie at like 40 lol. Bella Ramsey was the best part of the show, anybody hating on her is a weirdo

    season was pretty great.

i do find it interesting how i still almost feel like there is still room for another zombie show on TV. I personally don't care, but it is kinda funny how the zombies in this show quite literally had not been relevant in the mainline present day story for like 3 whole episodes.

i guess showrunners know there isn't much drama to drum up with just humans vs zombies for an entire series. the real entertainment is within how humans respond to apocalypse.

How? If he didn't give Ellie back, she would have shot him.

Shooting her while she was down unarmed

I think they did a much better job here than in the game of creating a clear debate at the end they almost changed Joel’s purpose a little with some of the lines they added

his decision to me in the game seems like it’s only fuelled by the amount of time spent together

Is there anything you think game did better story wise ?

Craig said this and got hate itt for saying it should be different than seeing pixels die.

“ pixels die “ is such an out of touch way to put an interactive medium . It’s overly simplistic especially since that “ action “ scene wasn’t as emotive as they may have hoped

we the viewer do not see/hear marlene give ellie a choice correct? like she did not let ellie know hey we are going to get the cure! but we also will be killing you in the process!

we did not hear/see that correct? if so marlene deserved to go unfortunately.

She doesn’t give her a choice so “ she doesn’t feel pain or know fear “ . But as I was saying to many general viewers makes her too clearly evil

yup. just went back and saw what you had to say on this. I agree with you. issue is how else to they do it?

marlene gives ellie the choice, ellie agrees, joel goes crazy, ellie wakes up and is like wtf??!?!? not sure where it would go from here.

  • Mar 13, 2023

Marlene giving Ellie a Choice would have been better for me. Fine don't let them say their goodbyes that is "evil" enough. But her giving Ellie a choice and Ellie choosing to die similar to how Joel choose to attempt suicide and in this case Joel stopping her attempt that would have killed her but helped humanity would have made it a more hazy decision about should someone be able to choose to kill themselves for the betterment of humanity. Also FOR ME would have made it so truly Marlene, Joel and Ellie all on equal footing of conflict with Ellie choosing to die but not getting to say bye to Joel before, Marlene putting her in a position to die but doesnt get to see Joel before fearing Joel would talk her out of it or complicate things, Joel can still easily lie in this situation, Doctor and nurses more doing the will of the patient rather than the will of the man who called her cargo

that is just me. I think it would have been a good tv change to make it all more grey for tv watchers. Would I change the original game on time of release ? No because if there is never a sequel the ending is good as is but with a sequel coming that is the change I think would have everyone conflicted and be heartfelt.

I would like that change honestly. Him taking away her choice to kill herself for the better of humanity while her mom character and closest character to her who has known her all her life gives her a choice then Ellie has to decide whether she trust Marlene and fireflies or if this is what her mom would have wanted would have been cool to me but I get it works as is

In the games there's voice notes throughout the hospital from Marlene saying stuff.

This is one I think they should have gotten in there some how but they articulated her conflict well. Besides the giving of the knife to Joel. They explain why they did that in the podcast but to me it doesn't come off as sweet or getting the guilt off so much as just straight villain like

  • Mar 13, 2023

would love to see the demographics of show watchers who played the game lol. assuming joel bites it early on in season 2, i am curious how bought in the viewers will be to continue the series.

I really hope they make that first episode extremely compelling. as a none game player, my biggest question has always been where the story is headed post cure arc. now that is out the window it will be interesting to see how they keep the tension/interest in what's to come going.

I don't know why. No matter how realistic the game is, npcs don't look or move like real people.

They kind of rushed through that hospital scene and played the last of us theme (even if it was meant to be a sad version ) so loud that you don't really hear the humans. One person in this thread even called it "Epic". When their goal was that the scene was sad. They really had a chance to execute a sad necessary violence scene where Joel kind of struggles. Yet to ME personally it came off as terminator, jack bauer and at times even comical to see a man we barely saw kill all season catch like 20 something bodies

Not caught up on the show but hearing some pretty mixed reviews on the finale. Are people mad about the execution or plot direction of the episode?

    I’ve played the games btw.

    overall it lands it
