regardless of all other criticisms, y'all need to get over the violence part lol. the reality is that s*** only works in game world where joel can tank bullets and Ellie cannot be killed or shot at.
Joel is an aging man with bad knees. If he gets pulled up on in the show by even 3-4 armed raiders in an open area, he's dead
I'm not saying he needs to be taking on armies of raiders or clickers every episode am I.
The show can absolutely be more gritty and visceral in the way it handles the encounters. They are far, far too scarce.
Him snapping one raiders neck and getting shivved is absolutely nothing in comparison to the fear the game injects in you trying to escape that science lab, and then having to literally get carried out by Ellie. It's unbelievably rushed and watered down in the show.
The main character literally just got stabbed. I want to actually feel something at that point, not just 'oh another story beat has been hit'. Emotionally I didn't really feel anything - no fear, no worry, I wasn't on the edge of seat, I wasn't caught by surprise. I understand I've played the game, but that's not an excuse, there's still an emotional investment there that wasn't bridged.

its too good. And they know it
OR, we just want to come in here and talk. what's wrong with discussion?
There is absolutely nothing wrong with discussing the show or talking about what you like or don’t like . I think every single person itt can agree with that .
Nothing is above criticism
But if you don’t like the show after 6 episodes, you probably just won’t like it at all lol. And that’s fine, it’s your opinion…it just feels like now some people are almost forcing themselves to stick with the show so they can come in here and talking about how much they don’t like it every week

Everyone itt will be back for season 2, I’m sure of it lol

Velma, Avatar, Matrix, and Justice League proves this wrong

I'm genuinely curious to see where this goes. at the same time, perplexed at people hailing this a masterpiece. i just wanna know more.

Mannn if episode 3 and 5 didn’t hit you right in the feels, idk what will lol
I had no idea what that second image was lmao, I had to ask my girl what it was while we were watching the episode . It was a nice detail to put in the episode though , you can tell a woman directed it
Was that Dina checking out Ellie
Yep
Mannn if episode 3 and 5 didn’t hit you right in the feels, idk what will lol
3 did nothing for me
5 did the most for me, by far.
but again, this like episodic television of introducing people you think will be around and killing them 25 mins of screentime later doesn't give me enough time to actually care. what do they do for the story? i imagine that each of these interactions is supposed to influence Joel/Ellie in some way... but idk it just hasn't felt heavy enough.
i genuinely think that if yal hadn't played the game, my (and those who agree with me) position would make sense.
This was my favorite episode so far.
This episode made so much ground man. The scene of Joel breaking down talking to Tommy was incredible. Pedro absolutely killed that s***. They’re doing such a good job of humanizing Joel in this adaptation.
Bella killed this episode too. Bella’s reaction to what happened at the end of this episode was amazing. “I can’t f***ing do this without you”, she looked genuinely terrified.
The confrontation scene between them did hit harder in the game, but we’re going to have plenty of moments like that and I don’t see it as a problem, they’re complimentary pieces. The panic of looking for Ellie in the game really adds a ton of weight to that moment.
I’ll say, the way Joel and Ellie were interacting post Jackson at the end there, I feel like it would’ve been nice to see a little more of that energy in like episode 5 perhaps, but I also recognize last episode was a heavy action episode and they still did have their subtle moments
I wonder if they’ll cast Cascina to play Dina in season 2 considering there is like a 4 year time jump, or if they’ll just stick with that actress that we saw
Not gonna be gaslit into thinking Hollywood actors shouldn’t be hot
This is one of the dumbest posts in this thread btw which is an absolute accomplishment

General audiences seem to be loving it overall for the most part.
But yea this story is about Joel and Ellie, and all these events are what shape their relationship and influence their lives
Any reason why you won’t play the game?

Think this is my 2nd favorite after episode 5

Absolutely
My second fav behind episode 5
Don’t let this thread let you think the general audience doesn’t love this and thinks it’s great
This thread sucks and the same 5 users hate posting

I mean, the actress that plays her in the show is already like 26 so they'll prob just stick with her
