me personally by the end of part 1 I was questioning the amount of violence necessary for the goal to save humanity then in the end he doesn’t even save humanity :deadfast: . Especially when whole game Ellie dying was a possibility to get the cure .so I was fine where 1 ended . I thought Joel deserved to die game 1 so a whole game seeking revenge for a human who needed the first game murdering like 10 innocent people was enough

but to me the story having all of that happen isnt trying to say "this is right" or "this is justified" or "this is good".

I think Neal and Craig put it in a really cool way in the podcast breaking down the show. TLOU at its core is about the terrible things love can drive someone to do. Its about how love can begin to control the brain almost like a fungus can. and it can lead you to do some really f\*\*\*ed up s\*\*\*

Oh yeah I get that it’s abundantly clear .

I don’t get part 2 hate but I do get “ aight part 1 and left behind ends well enough where I personally don’t feel inclined or in love enough with characters to do more “ . Saving humanity or saving one character who again remember my first time was on ps3 with wonky ai. Like yes they have the giraffe moment but I didn’t value her life over humanity or think it was worth it . Again to Ravi their own . I get Joel was controlled I get we essentially are love or that fungi

You should love lol playing it with an xbox controller will oddly feel right. Wish on PC they were bringing with multi but factions will be out soon after

She is definitely less likable than 1 to me but I get that was part of point but to me that all only works if you agree with choices made . Only way I think to put it is like breaking bad . At a certain point we should hate Walt but we justify his actions. Here that didn’t exist for me

making Abby a well developed villain was smart though

also, to be clear, im totally fine with you having criticisms of the story or games or show or whatever. But - and correct me if im totally off base here - it seems like a lot of the conclusions these games are trying to get to via the story it tells does so in a way (violence, revenge) that youre not a fan of. Which is fine.

But all im saying is, yes, truly if someone LIKED the way in which Part 1 is telling the story - the true story, im referring to being how love can lead people to do terrible things and how empathy is almost inseparably connected to perspective , then yes honestly i have a hard time wrapping my head around people loving 1 and hating 2
