that is literally accounting. except maybe if you use Quickbooks, which still spits out an excel sheet ultimately

and then each time they say some s*** like that, they say "I don't care how stupid you think I am" or "my high school diploma ass" or whatever, but they literally do sound like stupid, never worked a real job a day in their life ass niggas (and gingers) when they say that. same as saying "defamate my character." they just come off very unpolished and not smart when they say things like that, and it's easy to understand why they wouldn't understand their contracts

ultimately what they wanted was actual detailed books. receipts for expenses, contracts, bank statements, etc. and as profit partners maybe they are entitled to that, especially if they don't trust their friend or if they don't trust the numbers. although Joe says the 400k "mistake" wasn't a mistake, it was just like a pro-rated payment or something like that idk other people have commented on that

also if you know anything about the movie business, the few times an actor is able to get a % based pay from the movie, they often get f***ed because studios do all sorts of creative accounting. it's called Hollywood Accounting (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hollywood_accounting) and it's usually legal even if it's f***ed up. studios will do all sorts of s*** to reduce the profits a movie reports. they'll add in marketing expenses, distribution, production overhead etc.

so I see why Rory and Mal want to see the books. Joe could be unintentionally or intentionally f***ing them over. it'll be hard for them to win any legal battle though
