• I have a high paying job and more than one stream of income.
• I don't rent I own and have a tenant paying me rent.
• I have a loving family, girl and loyal friends.
• I have healthcare.

Mal:

• Unemployed
• A glorified entourage member who lived with Joe for a decade until Joe gave him a job.

I’d argue that last point. Joe was paying them at a premium compared to the work they were doing as “employees” presumably because of their friendship/relationship. Someone else may even argue he was overpaying them in hopes that they’d never question the equity
