When does it becomes so easy to dispose them or not making it a good and wholesome business. They all coming up, instead of one person. But Joe thinks he is Diddy. And Rory is essentially Mase.

Why should the minimum wage be the same in NYC and SF as it is in rural Virginia? Why should the minimum wage be the same in a city where a 1 bedroom apartment costs $3k / month as it is where a 1 bedroom apartment costs $600 / month?

BabaláwoDon’t see why he’s have an issue with that. To my understanding there was no real contractual deal involving the podcast up to that point, so everything might’ve just been a real genuine thing between friends.
I can’t see how someone who loves to wax poetic about ownership, bad contracts, and all that s*** would have a problem with 2 people who helped get the pod to where it is, ask for equity. Truthfully we all should’ve caught on when he started talking about “honoring bad deals”.
He might’ve very well been over paying Rory & Mal, so them asking for more, or to be privy to more of the ongoing stuff could’ve been offensive to him. But that’s on him for not being transparent with them from the get go.
and thats the first mistake Rory and Mal made. They should've had a contract that guarantees them equity.
This was a business and they didnt treat like that. Joe treated like a business and not just friends podding
Joe didnt give them equity after spotify deal because he didnt feel they deserved it. He didnt feel like they were putting in the work to demand equity.
If they had a contract in the beginning, this wouldn't have mattered.
Imagine your working at McDonalds for a couple years and then decide "hey i want some equity now and I also want to know the accounting and s***". Your boss would look at you like your crazy because you are an EMPLOYEE. Thats what you agreed to. Same thing with Mal and Rory.
They werent bringing in the deals and didnt do anything outside work so why would Joe give them equity as a business man?
They could've also waited for their current contract to finish to negotiate equity but they didnt. They just went on strike and expected the pod to stop.
Joe doesn't need to share anything cuz hes a boss and they were cool with that for a while until they realized they were just employees. Later they found out that they can be replaced.
They didnt handle their business right at all. Thats the sad truth.

No matter how how closely I listen to this episode it doesn’t change the fact it’s one side view of the situation. I’m only 5 mins in. Joe can be totally right in the handling of the situation, all I’m saying is we shouldn’t take his words as the whole truth.

He could still have been the boss but made the business right and included them with a vote or a voice. They seemed to think they had this but eventually realized they didnt, and got told off. He kept them in the dark.
So when the trust, chemistry and friendship is gone there is nothing left.

They’re just trash interviews cause Joe trash at them lmaoooo
Idk the numbers admittedly, so I’ll take your word for it, and concede on that end.
But like Joe says in his arguments about numbers with execs, I was more so talking about impact, feeling, and word of mouth. Don’t think I’ve really seen people be like “I wish x artist would do an interview with Joe!”. They say it for the podcast, but not him alone.
Apart from the first 2 episodes of Pull Up, I haven’t watched any from beginning to end. But that’s just me. I’m not solely listening to the podcast just for Joe. Let alone him interviewing people 1on1.
