If you develop something with and because of your friends, you still "should" look at it like that? Morally.
When does it becomes so easy to dispose them or not making it a good and wholesome business. They all coming up, instead of one person. But Joe thinks he is Diddy. And Rory is essentially Mase.
They just started disliking each other and then that friend s*** went out the window. Then it became boss vs employees.
they shoulda negotiated for equity earlier on. and if equity was a dealbreaker then they should dipped sooner if they weren't getting any and started their own s***
assuming Joe is telling the truth (a big assumption) they are well paid. they get to sit and talk with their friends twice a week and get paid well for it
no lmao. mal and rory are very much at fault for this. listen to the pod
link me
why $25? Why not $30? Why not $50? Why should there be a federal minimum wage at all? Why should the minimum wage be the same in NYC and SF as it is in rural Virginia? Why should the minimum wage be the same in a city where a 1 bedroom apartment costs $3k / month as it is where a 1 bedroom apartment costs $600 / month?
Rory and Mal have the same logic as you LLC Twitter wannabe clubhouse entrepreneurs who want student loans forgiven bc you went to a s*** school and got a s*** degree and can't get a job cuz u have no skills
There should be a minimum wage calculated with a cost of living coefficient.
Niggas used to love hearing what Parks thought and now they can’t stand it because they disagree
Don’t see why he’s have an issue with that. To my understanding there was no real contractual deal involving the podcast up to that point, so everything might’ve just been a real genuine thing between friends.
I can’t see how someone who loves to wax poetic about ownership, bad contracts, and all that s*** would have a problem with 2 people who helped get the pod to where it is, ask for equity. Truthfully we all should’ve caught on when he started talking about “honoring bad deals”.
He might’ve very well been over paying Rory & Mal, so them asking for more, or to be privy to more of the ongoing stuff could’ve been offensive to him. But that’s on him for not being transparent with them from the get go.
and thats the first mistake Rory and Mal made. They should've had a contract that guarantees them equity.
This was a business and they didnt treat like that. Joe treated like a business and not just friends podding
Joe didnt give them equity after spotify deal because he didnt feel they deserved it. He didnt feel like they were putting in the work to demand equity.
If they had a contract in the beginning, this wouldn't have mattered.
Imagine your working at McDonalds for a couple years and then decide "hey i want some equity now and I also want to know the accounting and s***". Your boss would look at you like your crazy because you are an EMPLOYEE. Thats what you agreed to. Same thing with Mal and Rory.
They werent bringing in the deals and didnt do anything outside work so why would Joe give them equity as a business man?
They could've also waited for their current contract to finish to negotiate equity but they didnt. They just went on strike and expected the pod to stop.
Joe doesn't need to share anything cuz hes a boss and they were cool with that for a while until they realized they were just employees. Later they found out that they can be replaced.
They didnt handle their business right at all. Thats the sad truth.

the work shortage u see places including amazon having now is bc niggas realize that places are exploiting labor for dirt in return, i promise if niggas had equity in the form of ownership, better working conditions, better pay, people wouldn’t have an issue working
There should be a minimum wage calculated with a cost of living coefficient.
yes, it should be county by county. or city by city. not federal. otherwise a lot of businesses would close
So Joe fired them for wanting to know more about the business? Yea im done with the pod now. Joe is wayyy too much of a hypocrite for me to take him seriously anymore
Naw, Joe thought they was cool after the reunion episode then they suddenly bailed on today’s episode and Joe snapped lol
Niggas used to love hearing what Parks thought and now they can’t stand it because they disagree
parks a coward no matter how you spin it bro it has nothing to do with hot takes
Like I said if rory wants to audit further he can take it to court joe can't stop that. Yall can make a million excuses it doesn't explain why rory didn't take the content and make his own YouTube the answers to your questions are in the latest pod tho, I encourage to really listen and don't skim it
No matter how how closely I listen to this episode it doesn’t change the fact it’s one side view of the situation. I’m only 5 mins in. Joe can be totally right in the handling of the situation, all I’m saying is we shouldn’t take his words as the whole truth.
if you bag groceries at WalMart do they give you equity?
exactly
Mal and Rory didnt understand that they were employees
not to mention amazon is notoriously s***ty as an employer so yeah nigga i want buku bucks to work there
the work shortage u see places including amazon having now is bc niggas realize that places are exploiting labor for dirt in return, i promise if niggas had equity in the form of ownership, better working conditions, better pay, people wouldn’t have an issue working
no, it's because people are getting unemployment insurance. when it stops, they will return to work or starve
yes, it should be county by county. or city by city. not federal. otherwise a lot of businesses would close
County bay county or city by city makes sense but it should still be federally enforced in my opinion
they shoulda negotiated for equity earlier on. and if equity was a dealbreaker then they should dipped sooner if they weren't getting any and started their own s***
assuming Joe is telling the truth (a big assumption) they are well paid. they get to sit and talk with their friends twice a week and get paid well for it
They want to make it Joe's fault that the rona happened and rory lost his palooze income so he turned to Joe asking for s*** he didn't own or fund. Not to mention rory friends who fumbled the dusse bag
not to mention amazon is notoriously s***ty as an employer so yeah nigga i want buku bucks to work there
they are s***ty enough that they have 1.3 million employees? someone should tell that to their 1.3 million employees
They want to make it Joe's fault that the rona happened and rory lost his palooze income so he turned to Joe asking for s*** he didn't own or fund. Not to mention rory friends who fumbled the dusse bag
precisely
For sure but the podcast views went back to normal after 1-2 weeks with Ice and Ish.
Mal and Rory helped built this pod no doubt but saying the podcast will cease to be popular because Mal and Rory is gone is a bit delusional IMO
Completely agreed on the interview part in your post though
They are disposable from them just being personalities, that can be replaced.
It just sad that it came to this. That their friendship and chemistry got f***ed up because Joe wanted it all.
He could still have been the boss but made the business right and included them with a vote or a voice. They seemed to think they had this but eventually realized they didnt, and got told off. He kept them in the dark.
So when the trust, chemistry and friendship is gone there is nothing left.
No matter how how closely I listen to this episode it doesn’t change the fact it’s one side view of the situation. I’m only 5 mins in. Joe can be totally right in the handling of the situation, all I’m saying is we shouldn’t take his words as the whole truth.
5 minutes in and you Talking like you heard everything
parks a coward no matter how you spin it bro it has nothing to do with hot takes
Idc what you call it y’all loved hearing from him and now y’all can’t stand him
They literally are bigger than the pod lol. The Pull Up series averages more viewers than the actual pod.
They’re just trash interviews cause Joe trash at them lmaoooo
Idk the numbers admittedly, so I’ll take your word for it, and concede on that end.
But like Joe says in his arguments about numbers with execs, I was more so talking about impact, feeling, and word of mouth. Don’t think I’ve really seen people be like “I wish x artist would do an interview with Joe!”. They say it for the podcast, but not him alone.
Apart from the first 2 episodes of Pull Up, I haven’t watched any from beginning to end. But that’s just me. I’m not solely listening to the podcast just for Joe. Let alone him interviewing people 1on1.
