Joe & Mal in the episode talk about how a lot of time was spent trying to reconcile the hov beef from a bunch of different angles, which as other people have hinted at in the thread had more to do than just the beat, it had to do with his time with Def Jam with hov as pres too. Post rocafella. Mal and Hov are obviously more tightly linked but he apparently had no problem having to do lifting in the name of Joe when they were living together.

Joe wanted an apology, and Jay was like nah. Worse he was like so what. Just because Jay acts like s*** isn't a big deal (like the debacle with Kaep) or shouldnt affect people doesn't mean it's cool.
