Coda did not have anywhere near the impact, acclaim, or notability before it won Best Picture

EEAAO was adored before it was ever nominated for a single award

It was "adored" by the people who see every event movie and like it. There's not much to that adoration. It's pop music. It comes and it goes. And it already went

No it did not "already go", I have no idea what you're even basing that assessment off of

People still love EEAAO, evidence of that being people very excited for The Daniels' next project, and them being able to nab one of the most in-demand leading men in Hollywood right now to star in it

That movie was extremely loved during its theatrical run, wayy before awards season .

I don’t know where this revisionist history is coming from that people never loved it

I’m not saying people didn’t love it, I was absolutely astounded by how much love it got at release. I saw the trailer, thought it looked terrible, saw all the good reviews so gave it a chance and it was deadass the worst thing I saw that year. It was an A24 for Marvel fans movie, and the fact it was praised showed exactly everything that’s wrong with cinema and the world in general.

Yeah because people who go see major event films are idiots who can't read. Nobody is excited for the next Nolan or Denis or Coogler or Peele film based on name alone either

Ask the next 10 people you talk to irl if they know who the Daniels are and then ask if they know what EEAAO is

Bro I didn't say they were household names lmao

Do you think they pulled Gosling for their next film just off vibes? No, that's the EEAAO goodwill paying off

I think a lot of the negativity that this film gets is just people projecting their hate for Marvel onto it

Not sure what we're even talking about anymore. It was a successful movie. I thought it was fine. But it was a sensation with a crowd of people who also will go and watch Fantastic Four The First Steps. Those aren't the people who are looking back at EEAAO and questioning how good it was. Nor do they know who the Daniels are.

You're not explaining anything, you're just saying that people who liked this movie four years ago apparently don't like it anymore and have no idea who directed it.

So I'm asking you: how do you know that?

No, I said they aren't the ones relitigating it? And yeah, most people who see billion dollar movies aren't going because they like the director.

    How don't you know that?

EEAOO is FAR from a billion dollar movie man

It was a sci-fi action adventure from an independent studio by a director duo that no one had ever heard of

    And it made $143M

I'm really not sure why you're acting like this was some tentpole franchise event film

Brother, I'm not gonna argue hyperbole with you.

If you want to believe the people who hate it now loved it then
and that the Daniels are household names

    I'm happy for you

I've already said that I am not saying that the Daniels are household names

I said there is interest around their next project built from the goodwill they received with EEAOO. That's not me saying that they're household names

I wonder how EEAAO would be talked about now if Jamie Lee Curtis hadn't won that Oscar

I think that turned a lot of people off to the movie

I kinda feel the same about that movie, but I like the science/space stuff and it had more interesting visuals so I don’t think it’s as bad
