It was A24's highest-grossing movie before Marty Supreme

It was the only film by an indie studio to make $100M during the pandemic

People LOVED that movie. This hate campaign literally only exists online and did not exist until it won Best Picture

What does this have to do with it being trash?

Careful of your use of the word “literal”.

Idk where you’re at, but I can name you 30 people I know right now in NYC that don’t f*** with it

I was responding to him saying "no one in real life knew what this was before it won Best Picture"

Not really. Insanely original film that hits every tone with ease. They don't make em like this too often.

I didn't say it was bad

  • this is not an alt

Bro nobody irl had even heard of that movie before it won an Oscar

That movie was extremely loved during its theatrical run, wayy before awards season .

I don’t know where this revisionist history is coming from that people never loved it

CODA won best picture. We don't count COVID or COVID hangover movie culture.

I just thought it was okay. Entertaining, broad humor, a little grating with its quirkiness. Lots of craft. The whole IRS thing didn't age very well and felt like some s*** out of the 80s even then. Jamie Lee Curtis's Oscar was bad. Weird anti China s*** as usual.

I liked the Jackass stuff with the butt plug and manilla envelope. The physical humor. Did not connect emotionally with epic bagel hot dog finger movie.

I didn't use an anecdote to say that people like this film, you did to say the opposite

Coda did not have anywhere near the impact, acclaim, or notability before it won Best Picture

EEAAO was adored before it was ever nominated for a single award

  • Major Insider

The EEAAO love is extremely corny and chronically-online behavior

This. I remember being one of the only ones who didn’t like it. My friends I seen it with loved it. And damn near everyone on KTT was going crazy over it.

That movie was overly hyped up during its theatrical run. I think after it sweeped the Oscar’s majority started hating (I think)
