If Drake is focusing on his health first(which he should) then I’m cool with waiting until the end of the year. He don’t really owe us anything when it comes to his well being. If he wanna be good and healthy because of some huge plans with the album we can wait a little longer. He could drop a single or a little care package to hold fans over but I hope he feel better. That type of injury is hell to an athlete so I imagine it’s worse for a regular guy. Hope he heal up.

I get what y’all mean when you say there’s no hype for the album but it’s Drake we’re talking about. All he gotta do is tweet “Tonight” or “tomorrow” or drop a track list or snippet and the hype is through the roof. He’s beyond promo at this point in his career. If he wanted hype he could easily get that.

Realistically what leaks did we hear from the album?

Lotta 42, Not Around, Lucky Lefty and Intoxicated? 4 songs, one of which wasn’t even finished and another was apparently reworked for the album (as per Drake himself)

I think he’s happy with the album and just wants to drop it at a better time. Doesn’t mean he won’t stop recording, inspiration can hit at any time, but they definitely have the majority ready to go. And this one won’t leak, this s*** is probably locked away in a vault. I don’t disagree with what Drake is doing. Late Feb/early March drop could set the tone for the year. I still think it’s a Q1 drop.

I agree with this. I think we'll be waiting for a while. It's not about timing and COVID. He knew January since October and we really only had one, maybe two leaks.

nothing, that's the point. don't announce a date unless you're 100% sure that you're ready to drop it. this goes for all forms of media.

excusing it just gives artists leniency to keep doing it. not saying that Drake does it, but it's usually not a good sign when something keeps getting delayed. I hope he does hone the project into something he's happy with though.

get the trailer out, get your media contacts ready, drop the singles, make it a big rollout, sure, but be ready to actually drop something when the time comes.

This time was the most normal rollout of his last couple of albums. He hyped it during the beginning of 2020 with a side project, released a lead single during the summer and then dropped the trailer with the date. The problem seems to be that he dropped it too early, since it gives it more time for something bad to happen. And this time it happened, either with the worsening of the pandemic or his torn ACL. I can understand you, but the problem wasn't the strategy, but the execution that was affected by externalities (pandemic) or bad luck (ACL).

All in all, I'm still excited for the project, and I hope it's a solid album. I'm just afraid what he's building up to has been kinda deflated a little because of the delay now. Took him an entire year to build up hype lol.
