There isn't one universally accepted "Big 6" in rock music, but if people use that phrase, they're often referring to six of the most influential and commercially successful classic rock bands. A common list is:
The Beatles – Revolutionized popular music with groundbreaking songwriting, studio innovation, and enormous cultural impact.
The Rolling Stones – Known for blues-based rock, longevity, and legendary live performances.
Led Zeppelin – Pioneered hard rock and heavy metal while incorporating folk and blues influences.
Pink Floyd – Famous for progressive rock, concept albums, and elaborate live shows.
Queen – Combined rock, opera, and pop with exceptional musicianship and stadium anthems.
The Who – Influential for rock operas, powerful live performances, and innovations in rock instrumentation.
Other bands that are often argued to belong in a "Big 6" depending on the criteria include:
The Jimi Hendrix Experience
The Doors
AC/DC
Eagles
U2
If your question is about the "Big 6" based on influence, album sales, critical acclaim, or classic rock specifically, the lineup can change. The six above are among the most commonly cited in discussions of classic rock.

Queen is one of the most overrated classic rock bands. They have like 30 really good songs, but they're spread out over 13 albums. Other than Sheer Heart Attack and A Night at the Opera, I don't think their albums are especially good.
Yup. The most rewarding thing is when you check out a band and find that their deep cuts are even better than their hits. Queen are the polar opposite.
Aruji stans them and I don't get it.
Deftones
Over u2? Yes
they have like 3 classics before u get to all their other great s***

I'm from the days when you had to sit on MTV all day hoping for something good to come on and the Linkin Park/Limp Bizkits of the time made me want to off myself (same with Blink 182/Sum 41s). Anything remotely similar was instantly disregarded except I guess RATM.

yeah they started doing a really good incorporation of shoegazy vibes along with the alt metal as they went along. really solid discog all the way through once they found their momentum. not really much of the 'nu metal' stuff once 21st century hit
