the simplest way i can explain how i feel about The Bear is drawing parallels between it and Crystal Castle's discography

I: chaotic, raw and abrasive
II: some of the former, but toned down and overall more melodic
III: half and half of the previous two

more in depth:

Season 1 was basically just people shouting and constant transitions. It felt very much like Safdie's work in how it made you feel - I got second-hand panic/anxiety. It felt like a rollercoaster and I enjoyed it despite not really caring for the characters. Had I watched it as it aired, I don't think I would've been excited for a season 2 just because the plot was so minimal.

Season 2 felt like it went in the opposite direction (for the most part) and focused more on the characters. Some cliche/lazy writing at parts, but overall I felt more emotionally engaged.

Season 3 felt like a perfect balance of both. It had chaotic, intense moments but they felt even more impactful because you know more about the characters and you care about them.

Season 3 was straight vibes. It felt like a fever dream into the characters’ psyches

People will come around to it and realize it’s greatness
