If you have any important lore I need to know for some of these albums (or even the ones I rated) that would be appreciated for sure

I was just thinking the other day that A Beatles Anthology style documentary for The Beach Boys would be amazing. I doubt Brian would want to do it but the BBs had such a crazy history

highly recommend this yt, this guy been into the bbs since 1980 and collect, he goes over their whole history by bringing context and some infos, very relevant material no boring typical coverage that goes over s***

Probably because most people that listened to that album are diehard fans my opinion might change though when I listen to Beach Boys chronologically good points btw

A step above Holland if my memory serves me correct, Brian's impact was needed and its shown on Love You. Good album, might have to spin it again soon

brian song on holland tho funny with the keyboards, kinda gives an hindsight to where love you would lead onto

Yeah it's on love you? it sticks out because I think it was recorded in a different session

same thing with today! actually, this song foreshadows what would become pet sounds:

yeh love you is from 1977 as you know the rough brian in bed vocals can be heard all over it, the reason good time sounds so different sonically but also has a much younger and bright falsetto healthy brian over it is because they just pulled a recording from the sunflower sessions, 1969!

so it takes me off the album a bit, i would rather have an original song from love you on it, this one for example which was a left out and used on miu:

i see today as the pet sounds of pre pet sounds material

imo today gets over shadowed but it’s a lil sister to pet sounds

the arrangements on today are like a prototype for pet sounds... i feel you, but the surf experimentation is still on today which makes them pretty distinct from each other

the lyrical introspective theme is there tho

imo when i grow up to be a man is mind blowing mature material for such young folks, super underrated song

oh that's an interesting take, i never really thought about today being super introspective, i was mostly enamoured by the sounds they were making and the melody. btw i was saying good time is my favourite song on love you, not my favourite beach boys song... that would probably be sloop john b
