Phoenix: Dennis Wilson, he’s the cursed Beach Boy. That makes him our favorite. He did about thirty songs, not all of them are easy to find. He did this one, Lady, and another one, a sort of Christmas song that is magnificent, very hard to get a hold of. I got it tho and it’s crazy. It never came out. There’s also another one that’s unreleased. (2009)

yeah his legacy is as tarnished as the bbs (or frustrating as neil young) i mean pacific ocean blue only got released on cd in 2008, that alone

and yeah that single was dead obscure, was released only for the uk and daryl dragon does the instruments on both

only started to appear on compilations around that same time too as pacific ocean blue release

version of lady posted earlier is the original but in 2009 they released a different mix under the name of the beach boys with carl putting some vocals on it too (maybe this is the one attempted for the early sunflower album?)

yeah dennis was really in his bag for those sessions - by now i like those songs better than forever for how much that song is a classic by now

their love continued tho they recorded with mike love that alone for christmas song (originally from 1977) for the sofia coppola movie

Beach Boys did on american David Frost show. if it was BBC it would be gone but they might find it somewhere still.

another french interview i just thought id translate it bc that kinda of s*** shouldn’t be left out forgotten:

Iggy Pop: I got about three to four important songs to me in my life and Fun, Fun, Fun by The Beach Boys is one of them. Along with some Johnny Cash and Muddy Waters songs. The idea of fun, in itself, is within the constitution of the USA: the pursuit of happiness. It for sure was different in Detroit... but the d**** made up for that!

But yeah, The Beach Boys i saw them live in 65 and they were genuis. Listen to The Who: it’s pure Beach Boys!
