isn’t it? i was so mad bc brian was already excited to make a follow up, a traditional rock’n’roll album jerry lewis chuck berry type that they never done before, how exciting! but mike ego took over and shut that down... but yeh sunmer’s gone is a miracle it happened, mike said he would’ve had it another way if he had known of the song, thank god they kept him separated for this song could happen as such!

the whole suite is lovely, some fan did a beautiful heartbreaking montage video for from there to back again

never knew that Brian is really is own worst enemy the last album was mixed but yeah couldnt write a better closer

Cabin Essence through Surf's Up on Smile is probably the best stretch of music in history. Who agrees?

One of my favorite bands ever. I hate that they’re looked over by so many people or seen as corny for their earlier music.

    self proclaimed big fan

Pet Sounds, Smile Sessions, Smiley Smile, Surf's Up and Sunflower are all GOAT

plus they have loads of amazing singles from their early days even if I don't feel like listening to a whole surfer dude album

and also some so bad it's good songs too for pure entertainment

    very interesting discography!

oh speaking of singles, they have great ones that never got onto albums

    of course this classic:

honestly should’ve been on pet sounds imo

    John Lennon:

This is the greatest! Turn it up, turn it right up. It's GOT to be a hit. It's the greatest record I've heard for weeks. It's fantastic. I hope it will be a hit. It's all Brian Wilson. He just uses the voices as instruments. He never tours or anything. He just sits at home thinking up fantastic arrangements our of his head. Doesn't even read music. You keep waiting for the fabulous breaks. Great arrangement. It goes on and on with all different things. I hope it's a hit so I can hear it all the time.

and a favorite of mine, song which was written when they finally got out of their deal with capitol in 69 to then make their own label, also brians murry wrote the lyrics to it with brian:

this is what this thrrad is fighting for in 2020 we done with the elitist bullshit underselling their goat genuis talents bc for beatles even tho the bbs are better, and we done being condescending of their fun upbeat uplifting early music too, no time for that hipster s*** anymore

also the breakdown in heroes & villains when the lead vocals goes “heroes and villains, just see what you’ve done” (god are the lyrics amazing too) the piano chords, that coda?? is like my biggest music piece obsession, i could heat it on loop forever, something about it is so hypnotic .. it’s not corny, it’s not sad, it’s not over the top theatrical, its not weird, it’s a melody that’s unlike anything else in this world.. brian the only one that still years after digging into his stuff leaves me with question on how to truly capture with words the sounds we came up with

let the wind blow, some pet sounds s***.. how she boogalooed it, first bb composition without brian and its a banger

friends title song a classic slept on. diamond head could’ve been on pet sounds too, and the first dennis songs, be still, little bird: like brian when he did lonely sea, a foreshadowing of genuis songwriting

and today man, when i grow up is such an unbelievable piece of songwriting, maybe one of brians best pre pet sounds! plus please let me wonder, she knows me too well, just as good as pet sounds, and in the back of my mind like i said which is the first or most proto pet sounds song type beat, and has dennis vocals on it which is a blessing since he don’t get leads on pet sounds so this is kinda of a “what if” treat

    bro

play this at any barbecue party and it’s a win

also ppl don’t realize but the ramones, the whole formula they brought this fast punk short songs in an era where prog rock was taking over, the idea of it was to bring back the early beach boys rocknroll surf innocent straight forward tunes and modernize it really with more energy, i mean what you think got them the idea for rockaway beach?

    they covered them

and also even did this song with bars about them

What ever happened to the radio
And where did all the fun songs go
Summer fun, with the Beach Boys on
But we all know what went wrong
