I remember someone recommending it because of the weird/exploiting relationship between Brian Wilson and his doctor had or sum (which made me look it up and I found a weird video idk if you've seen it but you probably have)

(I've heard that alcohol isn't good for singing as it dries out vocal chords)

yeh it’s safe to assume it did

he always had a raspy voice to begin with but it definitely enhanced it

brian destroyed his pure falsetto voice with the intention to do, he took lessons in the 70s to kill that innocent tone bc it became super dated in the 70s, more rock voices became popular

while it worked for dennis for the better it definitely didn’t for brian

only carl kept his voice intact throughout his whole life

I really feel for the alcohol abuse because my grandfather who really loved the beach boys did die because of alcoholism at the age of only 60. It’s a really hard situation and why I always stayed moderate with alcohol.
I get scared with alcohol so I try my best to never drink without moderation.
