brian only did one original song on holland but did this whole episode that came with it where he did all the music it’s so good and pure brian creative work like no other can aspire to do or explain, he just has some magic writing melodies abilities that’s alien to us

Brians singing is rough at moments and the synths can be jarring but overall a solid album gotta listen to it some more

ask other fun fact about love you: the song i’ll bet he’s nice is the only bbs song ever to feature all the wilson brothers each sharing a lead line on vocals

it started fine, wrote corny but innocent enough lyrics in the sixties while brian was making all the music

he did some hooks and there

then as time went by it became more democratic, brian started doing less and so others wrote and mike love input is just total dog s*** and he then turned the bands legacy to some americas band type s*** and shoehorned the whole surf image to them they tried for so long so move on from etc and well killed the bands creative run, in 1992 he did a bbs album that was basically all his direction and it was disastrous for the band, they didn’t do anything for decades after that

Wait but isn't this most of bbs history?

I thought they always were an all American, goody two shoes type band that stayed in the surf lane? like what are the albums before and after Brian Wilson laid back? Is there a fundamental difference to the ear?

Ps: I big reason why I never cared for that sound (and by extension bbs) is that the media made that sound so corny by putting it into cheap s*** like this

ill try to reply with some essay about this when i get around - you can say they were always an all around american band but it was never sold as is until mike love pushed it in the 80s
