If they hit it on a tuesday why cant they open up by the weekend. Thats like 3 days of planning and its kind of obvious by modelling that we will reach the 70% double dose around that time.

If not why not just set the date as October 11... 70% double dose is a misleading statistic anyway conisdering a dose takes a few weeks to be effective.

probably gives businesses enough time to get their ducks in a row ordering s***, rostering etc

it's like 7 days to get full protection so from that perspective I suppose the 11th makes sense too

this whole passport/app thing seems to be a bit of a f***around it will only be operational for like 5 weeks (until dec 1), much ado about nothing if you ask me

allows for a lot of admin stuff like chips said
for industries like hospo we gotta completely set up the venue again, prep items etc
and like covid safe training is a thing a lot of venues are doing rn too

plus most vaccines take 1-2 weeks to actually kick in and work
